My EBay Update (PartsBros)

So I thought while I have a few minutes, I would give some updates and some really positive reviews thus far.

so we kinda went live approx 90-110 days ago but I went totally legit (business, taxes, etc) on feb 1st and I’ve done almost $30 K since I started. Since feb 1 I have done almost $5500

That’s just my account and there are 3 but only mine thus far has the business plan as a test of sorts.

so I’m super excited with that, as it leads to my next experiment which is to basically completely find my team racing and bike builds in Flat Track as much as eBay as possible when we fall short on sponsors.

I currently have roughly 1200 items listed

I can list 50 items during hours on average. I can really hustle and list 75

Sometimes I take a box of parts home and list while watching tv. I’ve done a few hundred that way. Basically I’m telling myself “I should be working”

We’ve learned to diversify. For instance dalt spent a solid week listing all the seats several hundred) and that week his total sales were shit.

I’ve really got a decent system going.

my parts are mostly labeled by brand and organized by “Yamaha sport clip ons” or Honda misc electrical, or Ducati fuel pumps etc. so I’ll go down a row on my parts lister pro 9000 (more on that in a few) but basically so I can diversify I go through and list like 20-30 each brand and then subcategory that. Like I’m on the Honda row I’ll list 10 fairings, 10 starters, then I’ll move to Triumph and do a run of ECU, then plastic trim, maybe rear sets etc.

that keeps my inventory diverse for searching cause I got a lot of shit. Then I can use them as tests as to what’s hot sellers for each bike. For instance, I have 27488374 GSXR parts and they move decent, but for giggles I bought a Valkyrie, blown up and nice other than that and made like 5x in those parts as a CBR.

so one thing I’m HUGE about is parts arriving nice. Even a used part I want cleaned and packaged well. So obviously a large part of that is shipping and what not. So we get parts shipments through D&D daily but we long went through all our boxes through there so I went on amazon/temi, etc to find cheap boxes and even fb marketplace to military dudes throwing away to even beer to local multi dealer parts guy to save materials. Well we outgrew that too so I started searching and going a place locally vet owned and not only do they have like everything but they ship and deliver locally. Plus their prices are cheaper than Amazon and ugaul or Lowe’s. So that was a great connection.

back to shipping i want every part packaged and tapes and shipped nicely so now all boxes are new, new bubble wrap and all parts get plastic wrapped after listing. It really upped our level. People see their hard earned shit parts packaged carefully.

oh yea back to the Parts Lister Pro 9000, i have several computer diag carts leftover from snap on so i cleared one and I roll it down each aisle for quick listing. The cart has:
Labels-Color coded by brand for ease locating with part number, description, and date listed (so I can track what’s not selling often when inaudit myself someday) markers, wire hangers, rags for cleaning and polish. It’s pretty badass and really elevated productivity since I don’t have to walk to my desk every 10 minutes to list.

couple things I need to still do:
Internet in metal building. Killing my productivity time. The longest part is waiting on pics to load and I can’t move to next part till they all load. Sometimes I have to reload. So I need an internet service that’s decent.

I need a parts stripper/prepper. I have like 10-15 bikes in line that I haven’t gotten to get just cause ain’t enough of me in the day. But that’s an expense and i need to see if it’s worth it or just list EVERYTHING on shelves THEN take them apart, or do I just pay x amount per bike to take apart? Hmmmm. But realistic I have so much to list that either way, I need to decide which makes most sense cents….

Lastly I am REALLY glad I didn’t sell for 100k cause I did a few hour walk through of my hoard, and I’d say I “might” be 6-9% through it all. So when I was saying 100k for everything, I would be crying now.

anyways, for those who care, that’s where I’m at.

Feel free to comment or ask questions, I’ve learned sooooo freaking much

You need to start a charity and then have the charity sponsor your race gig.

Then register the charity on ebay and donate the proceeds to your own charity.

You got a link, RB? I’m trying to check out what you’ve got, and the only partsbros I’m getting in my search results goes to a Massachusetts based seller of the same name

    1) you want to buy parts and resell them? I’ve got a set of Marchesinis I bought for a bike that don’t fit that I’d sell for a song because I don’t wanna deal with eBay or some FB marketplace mouth breathers
    2) I’ll be down in Pensacola this fall for a week and would gladly strip a bike or two down for you - I actually find that shit cathartic

You could hold a free "Junior Mechanic" workshop 1x month. Have 2 or 3 of the above bikes ready to be broken down and advertise it out to racers/junior racers that have an interest in understanding more than just ride/twist throttle. They could learn, and you can get the bikes broken down. Probably 3x people per bike would be good.

Teach them a process to break the bike down,
Teach them how to organize parts by system (brakes, electrical, fuel, suspension, etc.),
Teach them how to store it, label it, etc.

Some might even turn out to be worth hiring on a $/bike or a $/bike + % of sale basis.

Nice, Something that might set you apart from others is better photos. I could direct you to a proper studio setup that wouldn't break the bank, there is some serious gimmicky crap out there that would just be a waste.

Man we actually tried that, and yes they appear better but we are pretty honest in the description as my background as a mechanic can identify usable or slight damage or whatever.

but at the same time, I can list 10000 times faster from my phone or iPad. I type pretty fast on computer and even then it’s still faster on my phone (if service in building is good. But that’s another thing, if I were to get an office computer (which I want) do I just get a basic setup from Best Buy? Or go get a shit ox clunker at a pawn shop? Then I still need internet in the new shop.
As you can see I’m still learning and teething.

Dalt has learned twice the importance of knowing the proper years and figments cause he’s had two returns cause he got lazy where you can basically copy others listings if it’s the same part or similar. Well other idiots sometimes don’t know their shit. I think it was more not wanting to feel helpless and figure it out. Lesson learned.

other than that. Still going for 50-75 listings per day

1: better pics don't require a fancy camera or a PC, a good background and lighting will help
2: for Internet- as long as your cell has unlimited data you can use it as a hotspot or tethered to get data to a PC at no extra cost

Nope ... most plans have a limit on tethering. My AT&T plan is unlimited with a 60GB limit on tethering.
