Songs to say goodbye. Songs to remember them by? My world is crashing into the Mountain ... have to do the unthinkable in the immediate future ... wish I could go with her .... dont know how/if I will survive this ... Thank you for song suggestions <3
Speedy, We had to put Pookie down last spring. She wouldn't have cared about music, just the soothing sound of our voices and being there for her. One thing for sure, your dog would do anything to protect you. I don't think they would appreciate you considering making their life a failure. They would want you to find and care for another.
She still here.... cant walk, I have to carry her w/ a HD harness.... imma make arrangements after the weekend... gotta get my head straight.... long time coming, put her through way to much already..... Im taking pictures and video, imma put to music and watch after she is gone. You will all know when she leaves, as I am sure I will melt out on here. Thank you everyone <3
Just had to say goodbye to our old buddy "Jake" on Dec 30th... I haven't cried that much since I can't remember when. My deepest sympathies to you and your family @SpeedyE
The only sound she wants to hear is her human's voice. If she could talk to you in return, I'm sure she would thank you for being her family and ask you to treat a poor, lonely dog like you treated her.
Give her the gift of time with you. That’s chicken soup for both of your souls. Letting go of Cash was #2 on the list of the worst days of my life. I miss that damn dog so much. Still have his collar hanging on my tool box. If I could suggest anything. When you have to say goodbye, try and have it done at home.
Sorry Speedy. It is one of the hardest things in life we have to do. I had to say "see you later" to our buddy back in July. I don't know about the music, but I would say just be there with her to comfort her as much as possible. I checked online and called around to see what veterinary office procedures were. I found a place locally that has a room set up for the unfortunate event. No bed or exam table, just blankets and dog beds on the floor. A bowl of treats and even a bowl of chocolate with a note saying they have earned the right to try a good chocolate. They were very considerate to us and our Max. Edit: I just read Hyperdyne's comment and he's right. Try to do it at home. We could not get someone out and then elected to find a good office. Keeping her home will reduce anxiety.
Get to the shelter and get back after it as soon as you possibly can. Best thing you can do. We are with you.
So painful. I once had to do a long drive, not knowing if my pup would still be alive by the time I got home. This song happened to be in the CD player at the time. I always think of beloved doggie Toby when I hear this song, all these years later.
Along the lines of Acree: celebration, not sadness. That dog loves you beyond belief. Celebrate her. Bro hymn, pennywise (I'm dating myself) With a wonder and a wild desire, flogging molly. Tupelo Honey, van Morrison. (My late sisters favorite song) Enjoy the time you have had with her, she enjoyed it with you. Celebrate that girl and her love for you. It's ok to cry, but, she would want you to love another dog before you are done. Keep giving.
I had to say goodbye to the last of my pack a few weeks ago. Reading this brought back a flood of tears. I really feel for you . . . .
You can tell that she has had a happy life and she was well loved just by looking at her! I'm so sorry.
Hey Speedy - I had to think a while about this. First, I'm sorry it's finally that time for you and your pup. If there have ever been songs that your dog howled to or ones that you enjoyed while spending time together, I'd go that route. I hope y0u find some peace and comfort for both of you.
Of all the places I could go when it’s my time.. I’m want to go to the place where all the dogs are that this forum has said goodbye to. FWIW we may be a bunch of assholes but I’ll be damned if our dogs here aren’t the best.
