Was waiting for a dedicated thread on this rather than tucking into the LeMans GP thread. Good on Harley for making this happen. Using a spec bike is probably the only way to make sense going forward because the MA rules are just not sustainable. What will happen with the MA teams specifically the Harley factory team? I imagine half or more of the MA field will want to race the new GP class leaving less support and money for MA teams. Can the MA class survive with this new GP class?
^^ those are good questions. It could be possible to run both maybe for the Factory Harley team if the rounds are not conflicting and the bikes are "close enough". I think it will be really interesting to see what the "spec" bike is. The MA baggers are on a level of superbike prep (or more in some cases maybe) and the closest thing to a "spec" superbike is like BSB rules right? Its all really interesting to see how it plays out.
I love it but don't really dig the spec bike but it makes sense. How can you not love the pure absurdity of those bike potatoing around the track as fast as they do. Reminds me of the NASCAR car at LeMans.
Oh I get the why but I wanted variety. Eating nothing but the yellow skittles is awesome and I could do it but sometimes I want the green and red ones. If I had Fuckerburg money I'd jump into this and hire Pedrosa to run one of my bikes. That'd be worth the Millions just to see.
I'm thinking this is going to be more of an invitational class based on who can be available for a given round rather than a serious points chase series. Bring a bunch of spec bikes, gather up local talent along with a rotation of big names and let fly as entertainment.
If this is the spec bike they are going to use, it has some pretty cool stuff on it. https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/harley-davidson-introduces-110000-race-spec-bagger-streetbike/ I wonder what the cost will be to the 6 -8 teams with 2 riders each for a 6 rd season?
Nice! I haven't been threatened with a lawsuit from something I or someone said on the BBS in quite awhile. and more hairy legged women have threatened to beat me up than BBSers have in recent times. Used to be almost weekly.
Who is paying for this? It won't be H-D. As far as KOTB in MA, well, this gives Indian, and therefore, MA a more graceful exit plan...
I imagine that is one of the reasons they are running a spec bike. After all, how would it look if MotoGP has to run a handful motors for a whole season and the Harley class is changing them every couple of sessions.
Once again... Gizzers have dropped more Oil in MA than Baggers. I for one am excited. Fast Baggers are dope.
What? I'm not good enough to sue? You too good to take me to the court, ya' plus woman size panty wearing, sidewalk sasshaying buckaroo? Come on, have some fuckin' fun, move up!
