You mean like Red Bull and Verstappen? Nah, that's crazy talk. Why would a team do something insane like that? Why would they try so hard to win?

    Sweatypants I am so smart! S-M-R-T... I mean S-M-A-R-T!

Not for nothing, but there was a quote last week from Marc that said something along the lines of, if he's not achieving and can't get what he wants out of the bike then its HIM and he needs to adjust the way he approaches or rides the bike/that track specifically, and that his riding style/technique needs adjustment. compare that psychology to, the bike's not perfect and i can't ride how i want to so let me bitch about the bike.

sometimes the latter is valid in some respects sure, but those two vastly different approaches to a similar problem may be why one is affected less than the other after turning some laps.

Yep, last I was aware they're all on 24s or effectively 24.5s, with the latter being driven primarily by aero upgrades. Besides, look who wrote that article. Who cares?

Yep, as I've stated before, Marc has started to win me over as a fan the last few years and one of the reasons is his unwavering focus on himself and what he can control, even when he was on subpar equipment. Funny how well that seems to translate into results.

I think MM was said to have a 24.5 last year, my point over all though is, being missed quite a bit. When MM was with Honda they followed him and development went sideways for years and still kinda is, but it looks like they are getting back on track. If you follow MM as your development lead rider and try and use his data you are going down the wrong path.

MM was on a 23 last year. One of the reasons he got the factory seat was his data on that bike blew the minds of the engineers.

From 2003 - 2019 Ducati had one rider's championship and constructor's championship with one generational talent: Stoner. I don't believe the listed executives looked at that outcome and saw a worthy return on investment. What they likely saw is a failed product strategy and execution. Starting with Gigi's arrival and the GP15 the Ducati transitioned from a temperamental, vicious thing to a broadly usable, pliable product. No better proof of that change of strategy exists than Ducati satellite teams challenging and winning rider's championships versus single generation talents being relied on to win championships.

If we can't agree that having 1 user that can successfully use your product is less optimal than having n+1 users be able to succeed with your product then we're better off ending this conversation now since we'll just end up annoying one another. :D

Honda has never given a single fuck about rider input. They take the data from the sensors and make a bike. Because MM was able to ride around the problems it made the bike look like it was good. Kinda the same way that Rainey made that shitbox Yamaha look good. Hard to blame the guy for being good enough to ride around the problems...

For the sake of the argument alone.

At Barber Sean Bice had a questions and answer interview on MotoA Live+ with KRJR @ 35 min...Bike steering problems, can't get on throttle, wont turn" Kenny says the HRC engineers say to Chuck Askland "Your rider is a world champion right?"

    Yep.

    HRC "It's not your rider"

They go back and look at geometry and find a 15 mm discrepancy due to inaccurate data.

According to Marcs crew Chief last year and Fermins this year - they got 2 major and 1 minor update last year - but no updates after round 13 I believe.

GP 24 VS GP 25 debate - jesus guys, this has been rehashed like 40 times.

    GP 25 differences:

    - engine - yes, not the GP24 engine BUT, not the original '25 engine tested which had more power but caused other issues - hence referred to as a 24.5 engine spec.
    - aero
    - frame
    - rear ride height device (one of the biggest changes and the apparent reason for Pecco's issues with bike balance and feel.)

Add in fuel mapping, electronics upgrades, tweaks to the wheels/swingarm/triples and you have a fairly dramatic change vs the '24.

...and yes, ALL done before Marc ever through a leg over the '24 with the exception of the revisions to allow for the 24.5 engine based on their Sepang tests feedback to not go with it. Al lthe rest was in the works for a year prior to Marc signing a contract to be a red rider for '25.

It’s fun to just skim these posts and giggle.
The depths of fighting over why a certain spec of Ducati is a certain way or what nefarious influences and witchcraft have been used in development is actually insane.
But please don’t stop. It’s entertaining.

    That’s a hard one for Luca .
HRC maybe let 41 ride the next race so 21 can be happy and go for ice cream after the ride on Sunday.
