I see Honda's dilemma. They are seeing this from a rules perspective and not a rider. Dorna basically curved balled them when they found out MM was going to miss the next round. Then revised the penalty of double long lap to "the next round Mr Torpedo" arrives to race. While annoying to Dorna, I believe Honda may win this protest.

Honda may very well win the battle, but they will lose the war. Next time MM or another Honda rider has a rules infraction of any type, they will get the book thrown at them.

You are very correct, FIM issues the penalty, but I liken Dorna to the tail that wags the dog since they own the series.

I think they just worded it incorrectly. The way it was worded would have only been for Argentina round and not his next race. Just seems like they’re correcting an error to me. Same penalty.
Honestly the whole reason Marc is in this is because he took someone down with him. If he keep the bigger crashes to his self like in 2020 he won’t have worry about penalties.
