I just heard that Red Bull rented all the airplanes, jets, and helicopters to get their VIP's and products to the GP. Can anyone confirm this?
Its about 2 hours from SF to Monterey. However I suggest you get on the ball for hotel because you are probably going to have to stay at least an hour away from the track at this point. Anything closer is either stupid expensive ($300-600/night) or booked. For airports there's SF Int'l, San Jose Int'l, and Oakland to fly into. If you're up for a 4 hr drive you could always fly into LAX or Sacramento.
It's about two hours the short way but longer if you take the scenic route. BTW if you think you might not get out this way again, take the scenic route - it's quite a nice drive along the coast.
We're flying into Paris (Charles DeGaull airport) and then flying to Vienna, Austria and then renting a car to Brno when we go the the Czech republic MotoGP race in late August...suckas !!
