Thanx Kevin! Good to hear the story from some one else who's been there. I didnt want to sound like I was defending him too much by saying that the first season is VERY stressful.

I thought it was great to see the Jumpman rig at the races. It is good for our sport on multiple levels:

    1) The money is coming from someone who is well known all over the world, thus giving road racing more exposure as people try to figure out why in the hell MJ is putting money into a road racing team.
    2) Supposedly MJ was actually at the races on Saturday, thus bringing out more camera crews and news stations trying to get an interview and giving our sport more air time as well.
    3) The money isn't from the normal vendor/manufacturer/parts reseller places. Maybe this will cause other companies outside of motorcycling to invest their sponsorship dollars in our sport.
    4) The team brought people out to the races who normally wouldn't have come. Those people were only interested in seeing the Jumpman bike going around the track initially. Maybe now they have more of an interest in road racing in general, which will maybe lead to more races being watched on TV, which may lead to more companies putting their money into road racing advertising.

As far as I can tell there are no negatives to Tez racing and MJ dumping boat loads of cash on a race team that is several seconds off the pace. It seems to be all good for us in one way or another. What I do know is we need more money in road racing to make things interesting. Just think how much better the racing would be if you had some major sponsors picking up some of the privateers. Rather than having 5 or 6 guys out there on pace and everyone else somewhere behind the pack we could have 10-15 guys banging bars to get to the podium. If we don't get some outside support eventually then the AMA Pro races are going to look more and more like Formula 1. You have 1 or 2 teams that win all of the races and then there is everyone else... way back there... somewhere...

Kind of surprising we were able to win a championship on that bike too.

Put yourself in Stewart's shoes for a moment. He hasn't run all the AMA tracks. He was a street racer. He does great at a privateer level and then bam, gets thrown into this huge deal with Jordan. All eyes are on him. He knows everybody is gonna be talking smack about him. He knows people will say they could be faster than him given the opportunity he has. He knows the press is gonna watch his every move because he is associated with Jordan. He knows people are gonna be standing around the semi asking when Jordan is gonna be around. He knows he is gonna be in the limelight and he is a first year full time AMA guy. Pretty big shoes to fill. I wish him the best of luck.

Fortunately for him, he's got Alpinestars sponsorship as well. They do all his repair work.

Very well put and PRECISELY to the point. Good luck Tez! This can only be positive for our sport, and maybe get more races on Speed. (If you haven't sent them an e-mail of appreciation, you should.....)

But you understood didn't you? I could just start typing in a way that you are not going to understand but then I would have to retype it so it is pointless.

Remember, I am a commie and a ferringner ;) so what do you expect out of me? As long as I can get my grammar correct in my programming, I don't really worry too much.

And by the way, if you really couldn't figure out, I just didn't type the " ' " because I don't use that key too often in what I do so it is kind of weird to find that key and type it. In spoken form of the language, the only way you can tell the difference between "it's" and "its" is by context. And by the look of it you understood just fine.

And also remember this is a discussion board, and I tend to treat discussions as more "verbal" than "literary" so I am applying my verbal rules, so its ok as long as you understand it :Poke:

anyway, what's your point? :D I will correct content when I see it

    novice52 there, but not really

i think it's cool that montez got support and props to jordan also for doing what he can to help his friend.
does he deserve it? yes, because he took the time and effort to seek it.

Tez is a class act. whether anyone feels he deserves it or not, he got it. sure lots of others deserve it too, and if its meant to be, they'll get their shot. my girlfriend and i went to mid ohio and friday night they had an autograph session. i didn't want to go, but she did and out of all 15 riders or so there, only Tez and Vincent Haskovek (sp?) took the time to ask her her name and personalize the autograph. the rest couldn't be bothered.

Why does the next rider MJ signs have to be Bubba? Seems a little unfair to play the race card at this point. Who knows, maybe after MJ gets his feet wet he'll field a 4 ride superbike team for Yamaha next year with Montez, Ted Cobb, Mad Brad, and Opie as riders. Or how about a Jumpman Ducati two rider team with Montez and Eric? I saw that Mr. Jordan has a pretty trick 998 when I was out at Laguna. ( I would think getting rid of Gemini would be necessary at that point so maybe not as easy as it sounds)

Just like a buncha roadracers to be selfish enough to look a gift horse in the mouth. The Montez/Jordan thing is good for the sport. Period. More people need to get off their arse and find out of industry sponsors if motorcycle roadracing ever wants to hit the mainstream.

IMHO and YMMV of course

Just saying there is no reason to assume that if MJ gets another rider that the rider has to be black. It's like saying I'm a lock for a factory ride if the Koreans ever put together a superbike and decide to race it. :D

hrmm...the thought of a Daewoo Superbike kind of scares me....
