    Well, that was fun.

I kicked off last weekend by throwing myself on the ground from my road bicycle, wrenching the hell out of my back so I wasn't sure I could even ride today but it turned out fine.

I'm semi-competent on my 848 at NJMP Thunderbolt. I ran some 33.4s last time I was there, on a bike probably capable of 27s. Really fast guys on R6s can get in the 26s. Had no idea what to expect on the Rs250. I thought anything in the 50s would be OK for my first session. My first hot lap was a 46 and I got in the 42s in the first session. 2nd session, I figured a few things out and had a few 38.2s. That was as fast as I went as it got hotter.

Ran 4 sessions and called it. I was hot as hell and thinking I should probably go over it thoroughly. The only problem all day was a clip on moved a little.

The bike is laughing at me. It has so much more to give.

This thing is cool as hell.

These RS250s are probably my fav track bike ever. So much fun and yeah, they do move right along once you figure them out!

Back out yesterday at Thunderbolt. The day before brought torrential downpours and it was hot as hell by the time the track dried out. I felt like I was going faster in several spots but the timer doesn't lie. A second off my best from last week. I went a big longer on the gearing (made a spreadsheet and everything to decide) and like it much better. No longer spinning out 2nd or 3rd in uncomfortable spots. The only downside is I'm more likely to fall off the power in 3rd behind a slower rider which sucks.

Managed to lose the circlip holding the kickstarter on and yanked it (spreading little parts all over) before it occurred to me to just safety wire it so I pushed started about 1/2 the day. One of the subframe bolts worked itself loose. I went over the bike but I obviously need to be more thorough.

I passed a guy on a CBR600RR into 5 (slow left), he passed me back on the straight into 6 (fast right), then went straight off the track into 9 and fell over in the wet grass. Two sessions later I passed the same guy at the same spot but kept him behind into 7, where he screwed up his downshift, went off the track and fell over in the wet grass. There's probably a lesson there somewhere.

The gas tank vented some fuel out of the filler during one session after I added gas. Cap wasn't loose. Have to investigate that.

Those kickstart arms are notorious for flipping outward while you're riding on the track. Every racer removes the circlip and just pops the arm on/off as needed to start the bike. It also starts easily by bumping it in 1st gear if you don't want to mess with the kickstart arm.

Thanks. Starting and pulling it is a good plan.

I've been keeping an eye out for a MK2 saddle since I got the Cup bike. It provides more leg room. About 10 days ago, a guy in Warrenton, VA posted one plus a bunch of other MK2 parts on Zuckerbook. He was 4hr away and didn't want to ship. Normally a non-starter but, in a coincidence of the ages, I was flying down to FL to get a car for my daughter from my Dad and driving home this weekend. Warrenton was 30 minutes out of my way during our 2 day road trip (995 miles).

So, I got the saddle and a bunch of other shit (not all of it shown). Subframe that doesn't need timeserts with a non-damaged fender. Coolant and oil tanks that haven't been dragged through a gravel trap, a speed sensor that's not coming apart, and so on.

Packing all this shit up in a 2015 MB SLK250 was a serious Tetris operation but we made it work. Daughter was in charge of music after we watched (she watched, I listened) the Dutch GP. Impressive range - included Beatles, Elvis, 2Pa, Rihanna, AC/DC, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, and Lana del Rey. The kid likes a lot of music.

    Also, Buc-ee's is insane.

Interesting Forum, I have a couple of Aprillias my self. An RS250 cup bike and one of my son's
RMV125's. CR125 cart motor swaps into an RS50. Although I mostly own two strokes I do own
    a couple fourstrokes as well.

Photo is from 1976 Orland California 1/2 mile. Live in Florida now.

Hello ZX, I live in Clearwater very near Safety Harbor. Have not ridden the road racers
in over a year. Just try and keep my sanity by riding the 2001-DRZ400S a bit in the dirt.
    How about yourself? Ride often?

Dang! You beat me to it. I normally keep an eye out for local RS250 stuff but I missed out on this haul. Congratulations.

I knew there was slight difference between Mk1 and Mk2 with the tank/ seat interface. And I knew Mk2 Cup had the alloy subframe for solo seat. Someday I’d love to get a totally self supporting carbon fiber seat setup but that requires rethinking how all the electronics are mounted.

I'm in Tampa/Wesley chapel and trying to make an rs250/rz350 hybrid but need some welding done.

Would love to see your stable!

Definitely off-topic but… Buccee’s is f’n fantastic. Not over rated. Misplaced a rental car at one in Royce city (SIC?), Texas.

Buccee's kinda sucks. Way too many people, the BBQ is shit, and everything is crazy expensive except the gas.

But I wanna hear more about the Aprilia Cup!!

Look on FB marketplace in Richmond VA area there is a guy throwing in the towel on his RZ hybrid project build. Not sure if parts are still available but reach out to him as he might already have what you need.
