Be patient Dunlop riders. Dunlop USA is hard at work developing new stuff....

They are black and round and have dunlop on the side. That's what made them go up $100. Now go out there and win that race.

Won four nat'ls and a 3rd place @rrr and racked up $400 worth of coupons, not even a set of GPA's. used 1 front and two rears ($539+$320= $859)

  8. IMO you simply can't beat a Dunlop front. Stick like glue and literally last forever. Most endurance riders i have talked too (including Knapp and Stokes at the GNF last year) run 1 front for a 4hr endurance and some of them use that some front for the Sprints the next day.

The rears are excellent also IMO. The grip is incredible........but over 5 bills per set is a little much. I have never been one to count pennies and waste alot of money on shit that probably isn't necessary, but even i think $320 for a rear tire is ridiculous, and I am starting to look in other directions.

They are very close. For the difference in money I would definitely use the US tire.

BTW- we were using the new KR449 USA slick not the 211 DOT.

I tried the Ntec rear at Savannah last week. Sadly, I will be going back to the 211 GPA rear. I couldn't tell difference between the two yet. Once I get faster I may try the Ntec rear again:up:

I ran a few versions of the US rear slick last year, my comments were similar to Billy and he might be on even a newer version.

At Beaverun, I did 3 sprints on a soft rear US slick and went faster than on the Ntec slick 6680 by over half a second and the tire still looked new...very impressive.

Damn. And you're about the best financed non sponsored racer I know.

  14. Im on the track a lot, I probably do twice as many TD's as i do races. And paying those kinds of prices for tires is started to get on my nerves. It isnt an issue of not being able to afford it, it is more of an aggravation kinda thing...especially when there are other tires out there that are much cheaper that people are winning on.

Dale Kieffer earned like $1000 in Michelin contingency recently at a race weekend. He did that on one set of the new and revised Michelin DOT's. We charge $389 for the set he was running...that means he technically made $611 in contingency...but since he's my boss at Michelin...I'm pretty sure he gave himself a discount on the tires. :D

Were there any changes made to the 160 Power One rears for 2011? The v fronts I just purchased had late 2010 prod dates but the 160 rears were older.

  17. I gotta say, the Mich contingency looks pretty impressive. I hate the whole XTRM card/membership bullshit, but the payouts are pretty impressive.

Mich ftw, the rear is just as good as the 211 and the contingency program is hands down the best out for tires right now. The Dunlops are sweet but not worth the extra money, and on top of that don't pay very much for the price of their tires.

I'll have to see what my local trackside vendor is charging for a set these days.

For my use, I think the D211GPAs are fine, but I do love the added grip and durability of the KR108 NTec slicks. The GPAs just don't last as long.

I didn't even know they had a new US-made NTec slick (KR449). I'll definitely give them a try.

Thats my only problem with the GPA's......... they don't last for shit!! The Ntec's are crazy expensive but they seem to wear like iron:wow:
