Racing is a waste of money, should be easy!:DBut it is a heck of a lot of fun. I'm glad we did race, because it created a bond between us. I believe it helped him learn about drive, and goals. Even guided him into his current career, because he wanted to make enough to pay for racing himself.

Not that I wish it on anyone, but his bad crash was a blessing in disguise. Bedridden for 3 months, wheelchair for 3 months, and crutches for 4-5 more months, helped get us out of racing. He still wanted to do it, but the lack of money for him to earn and the expense for me helped convince him.

Well after all the time of not finding someone to work on it without having to pull the trans and ship it I finally sold it to a guy who knows the rvs and is planning on repairing and flipping it - he had parts on the shelf to toss in and try, ultimately it was the 12 to 24 volt converter...

Um, natural gas not gasoline. Makes for a cool light too, have them in one of the hoods I grew up in. Some of the houses I've lived in still had gas lights in the walls, none still piped into the main lines tho. Some had been old school converted to electricity with the wires run through the pipe. Neat stuff.

He is coming out for Christmas, if you have a bike ready, I'm sure he could still throw down some good laps. :D

He says he feels poorer than he ever has in his life, after buying the Co-Op in NYC. In reality he would like to do it again, but he doesn't really have the time right now. Heck it's hard for him to even have the time to talk with us or his girlfriend. Crazy schedule and he manages 15ish guys below him.

OK, a related (and truly legit) question related to EVs ...

The 2023 Bolt EUV has a 65kWh battery. There's a kit you can buy for $500 so you can use it as a backup to residential power (V2H, or Vehicle To Home). Has anyone installed a similar setup?

Used 2023 EVs will be eligible for a rebate up to $4K starting 1 Jan. But residential battery storage has a 30% tax credit available.

Does it come with a gasoline generator to charge the Bolt while the house is draining the car's battery? (serious question)

I looked into this as I can't do a generac at my house without bringing in a larger gas line, busting out my driveway, etc.

Long story short, you're not gonna get any more output from the car than a 30A gasoline generator would give you

The strength isn't there for AC, oven, cook top, hot tub, welder, etc.

You're still better off with a 50A gasoline unit and then that can fast charge your car also if you do get one down the road

In other news Rivian is going thru cash like they're at their favorite titty bar and just recieved a $6B loan from the US department of energy.

Their currenty manufacturing plant in IL can produce 200K cars. The new plant they're bulding in GA will be capable of doing another 400K.

How many cars did they sell in 2024 so far?

    37,000.

    Make it make sense.

Have you seen a Rivian in person? There's a couple of morons around here that have them. Just eyeball fit and finish is garbage.

I'm sure DOE will get all their money back on those loans too. NOT!
