Leather suit advice

    Hello,

I'm a noob rider (10,000 miles and one trackday) and no where near a racer. I found this place because a friend mentioned it might be a good place to pick up some really good used gear. I rode in textile for my first track day, and after my buddy low-sided, I saw the results on his leathers and decided I need to upgrade. I want leathers for:

    1. Track days (ChuckWalla, Willow, etc. -- slowest group)
    2. Daily commuting
    3. Weekend canyons rides

I'm thinking of getting a two piece but I'm not sure if I should grab a one piece. What should my budget be for a good multi use (crash) suit? Since I'm slow, does it makes sense to buy a cheaper two-piece and then upgrade later on when I get faster?

I'm definitely avoiding any Bilt/Cycle Gear stuff. I use all A-stars right now and it seems to fit me well so I'm happy to continue to buy them. Any other brands should I avoid? Any brands to put at the top of my list?

Any advice is appreciated, so thanks in advance. I figured this would be a better place to ask for advice than say reddit or some other forum. I realize this is a race forum so I expect some flak (which I truly enjoy), so make it good. :)

This is easy. Private message TJ from Riders Discount, he'll take care of you with good gear.

there are advantages to a 2 piece if you are doing a lot of street riding with friends, and commuting ..

No matter one or two piece which ever you prefer or decide on, do not look for a cheap suit because you do not think you are fast enough for a quality suit. Road rash hurts at 5 mph just like it will hurt at 150 mph. What's your skin worth to ya is the question.

You can also buy used leathers in good shape very reasonably.

If you are considering commuting in your suit, I would definitely recommend a 2-piece suit with a substantial zipper at the waist.

It's MUCH more comfortable walking about wearing leather pants and a light shirt than it is wearing the whole suit. And it's inconvenient having to strip the suit off when you get where you're going.

I saw a woman take a leather suit off on stage once, it wasn’t inconvenient and I tipped her.
