I actually just swapped the front Brembos on my 24 for the Maguras from my 18. I much prefer the more plush front lever.
Davey Coombs has up until today downplayed the KTM / Pierer Mobility AG financial crisis by referring to the KTM-US line of 'all's well here in the USA.' He admits there are unanswered questions yet, here: https://racerxonline.com/2025/05/19...adline-bajaj-loan-for-632-might-be-the-rescue Jason Weigandt and Frank White discuss KTM and H-D's issues in this podcast: https://racerxonline.com/2025/05/19/exhaust-podcast-whats-happening-at-ktm-and-harley-davidson
Isn't this just more debt? I suppose Bajaj is buying more ownership % by providing the interim loan. But from the perspective of clearing KTM's books of debt, interim financing (i.e., debt) isn't gonna do it. Is it?
I see in various media that KTM is "saved" by the Bajaj money. They don't understand that this money is just to pay off the creditors at the agreed 30% rate. KTM has no money to restart production. Suppliers are not going to extend KTM credit for needed parts. Where that money is going to come from is unknown. Seems to me that Pierer will be out and Bajaj will be in charge in the near future. Side note- a local rider had his Norden 901 engine fail after an airbox seal failed and it ingested a bunch of dirt. He needs new pistons, been on order since November, constant "a few more months" on the timeline. Nothing in the aftermarket
Ducati has actually gone bankrupt and neared it in recent times to include multiple debacles by MV and Aprilia. They could've said fuck it and walked away but at least they're trying. Perhaps they should've walked off and perhaps it would satisfy more folks on the forum.
The difference with Ducati is that it had little value in the 80s, so the Castiglioni family could scoop it up for a song. KTM is negative 3B euros
I don’t believe the big banks would have loaned them the money if there was no working capital and the belief it would be a continued manufacturer.
I know of several 690 /701's fitted with a certain aftermarket air filter modification kit have had this same issue. My dealership warned me to avoid said kit,
Yes, I read that. You said there was no money to restart production. I think that Bajaj had to prove they have enough to restart production and continued the KTM company or they wouldn't have gotten the loan.
Obvious to most of us discussing this here: https://superbikeplanet.com/story/1...m-now-controlled-by-indian-manufacturer-bajaj
I wouldn't doubt they'll parade around Gottfried or whichever Austrian, but they won't be actually "in charge".
