It’s pretty much going to be A) diehard orange fanboys and B) guys like me who struggle with ergos on most Japanese bikes. All KTM bikes have always felt perfect ergonomically to me - a 6 ft tall white guy with long legs and poor flexibility.
KTM’s Dakar team of Price and Sunderland were forced to switch to truck racing as the team folded as part of cost cutting by KTM. Yikes.
No doubt. It's really short-sighted. I'm an avid hunter and I've heard my contemporaries celebrate closure of public lands to dirt bike riders without realizing they just greased the guillotine for themselves. Public lands are for all of us. I don't need to be interested in [outdoor activity] to fight for your right to do it.
I worked at Mercury Marine as my last job and still know a bunch of people there and they've done the same thing. Way over-invested and over-estimated coming out of the covid boom and now they're going through massive layoffs and restructuring.
Gainesville Motorsports, GA. Family owned business business with Cam Roos as the parts manager there.
Munn Racing in Tx will ship a bike, in a factory crate, to the terminal of choice close to you for about $200. They mail the MSO a week later then you can pay sales tax at your local tax collector if you want an State title. Can use a credit card as well. I tried leveraging my local dealer and those dolts lost 3 sales this year. So eff em and the rest of the greedy powersports shops. This week they posted a 2024 SX300 2T for $6700. Thats the premix TBI engine with the latest WP closed cartridge forks. You could probably part the bike out for more as the forks go for $2000 all day.
A local dealership up here in B.C. just topped up KTM's rebates to blowout '24's. 890 SMT msrp $14,999 - now $9,999 ($7,200USD) 1290 GT - $4400 off 390 Duke $2400 off ($6,999 down to $4,599) - thats $3300ish USD. Lots others too like 990 Dukes $2500 off so now $11,999 so $8,600USD. Yowza...
I accidently stumbled into a KTM dealer today and sat on a 1390 and the 890SMT. I really shouldn't have. Does KTM offer extended warranty in US?
Sounds like a good thing there's no KTM dealer near enough for me to wander into... the wife is already campaigning for her car to get a garage space for the winter and I have no idea how that's gonna happen as it is.
@everyone So what is the biggest smoking deal right now for a street bike? Please tell me you can get a new Aprilia for 50%off lol
A nearby dealer had a pile of Tracer 9GT's for $10K (I know, not as thrilling as a KTM or Ape) I'd bet the fickle US market didn't buy the Tuareg 660's in droves and there'll be deals
So what you are really telling me is once again @Dave K is fill of shit and just tire kicking at the dealership!!
