One year at the TT I was sitting at Hillberry and Johnson's speed on the SS bike was so dramatically faster than everyone else I thought he was crashing every lap. It was ridiculous.
When I watch GoPro/SmartyCam footage from racing my ZX10R, I say to myself; "Yep, that's about how fast it feels." However, when I watch this video, or that video footage from Hickman a few years ago, i say; "There's absolutely no fucking way they're going that fast" The footage literally gives me anxiety, and seems so scary. I feel like I'd either be 20 minutes off the pace per lap, or I'd be on a stretcher before I made it to Glen Helen.. Watching onboard from the NW200, or even some of the smaller tighter courses like Armory (sp?) doesn't seem that scary in comparison. All these boys are heroes.
I am very much a fan of these racers. I have also seen my own bones protruding from my skin enough times to question whether they are hero's, or slightly suicidal? Fun to watch either way.
I like to listen to the Manx Radio player while working - they've had some interesting interviews in the past and it gives a flavor of the island that I haven't seen across the TV coverage in the past.
ive been on site and im sure my customers think im nuts. but the neighbors at the shop always know when its tt time. lol.
Prolly see some records fall today, on course times earlier and no sun to battle like later in the evening.
Michael Dunlop has absolutely (unofficially) smashed his own lap record by 5 seconds with massive 123.4mph. From them.
