Intake Question

I have a quick question. I have a 05 zx6rr recently had to replace the four rubber injector holders (the ones that bolt to the head) When I installed the new ones I noticed that part of the rubber holder was covering some of the intake port like 3 mm. I attached a picture from the Kawasaki racing kit manual and it shows the exact opposite of how my intake looks (upper A section). In the kit manual it says to clean up the intake port to match the port wall to the rubber intake. I obviously can not grind the rubber intake boot to match it to the intake port. I am wondering if this is common to other intakes? Has anyone else noticed the same thing?

    Thanks Greg

Why can't you grind the intake boots to match the intake ports? Any bike that I've done porting or race prep on I've done that with a Dremel and sand paper. Mine were carburated but FI bikes are the same. A buddy of mine did it on an FI SV650.

Note: Pretty sure it would not be Superstock legal.

Try bolting them on loosely, them move the boot around until you get the best fit.

bolt the boots to the head! take dremel with 80 grit drum sander. sand untill smooth, if you go through the rubber part of the boot dont worry its alumm underneath.just mark each boot so they will go back on the same port if u ever need to remove them.

Is it supersport legal to do this?
