    tiggen Things are lookin' up.

Paid attendance at the NASCAR race was 80,000? Anybody have the attendance for the MotoGP round?

No matter what, if it makes money (the article didn't actually say), why would they get rid of it?

The Indy GP is a great time from the track to the city's hospitality. You never feel like they price gouge, you can take a cooler full of whatever you'd like in to the track and there are plenty of great places to watch from.
Plus, I think GenCon is the same week again this year so there will be lots of costumed freaks and geeks running around down town at night to laugh at while you get your drink on. Get your asses to Indy for the GP people. It's worth the trip.

I have been to Indy every year and have a really good time. Motorcycles on Meridian and the flat track races on Saturday night have become a ritual. It would be sad to see it go. The city knows how to put on events. the cops are cool, the prices fair. The track is not the greatest, but the event is top notch.

I highly recommend the smoked turkey legs with a cold one. Camp in Lot 2, wake up, walk across the street, watch all things racing, walk back, grill up burgers and brats, drink many cold ones. wash, rinse, repeat.

    cgordon3 I need a new bike...

Been to both COTA and Indy. I thought COTA was pretty damn cool from a track perspective, and how much you could walk around the track and see so much of it.

Indy is huge, and you get to walk around the whole inside of the place. There was more to see at Indy than at COTA off the track, but to be honest I would go to either pretty quick.

10 hours to Austin, and about 5 to Indy.

Awesome to see those bikes in person.

 F@ck no! I did that the first year and fell asleep. Literally fell asleep sitting in the bleachers on the front straight during MotoGP practice. The metal canyon is so ear bleedingly loud, and yet I fell asleep! The reason I know it wasn't just me is because my dad fell asleep too... He actually fell asleep first... No more turkey legs for me...

"We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about practice."

You got a great nap in, your mind and body obviously needed it. Count your blessings.

I guess the turkey doesn't affect me the same way. Barkeep, another leg please. (I'll stop there!)

They need to get the hospitality tents out of the view of turn one on the infield. They have the best corner to watch completely blocked off from the infield...

Cota this year had about the same attendance as Indy last year, that doesn't speak much for future races at Cota. It's a shame the USA doesn't recognize the BEST racers on the planet, on the fastest bikes.

I hope we don't lose this race.

Caferace, I still get goosebumps driving into that tunnel, been going it for over 40 years:up:

Barcelona, Catalunya, and Jose's casa are all the same joint, so that makes four. Three here, and two in Italy (if you consider San Marino as part of country). All nine other countries are one.

You think the U.S. warrants three races on the calendar? I believe they are contracted to Argentina next year, which means one race is going away.

I love the Indy event. It's my Father's Day gift ritual now. I buy the tickets and Dad brings the RV.

    :stupid:

If you don't get goose bumps when you arise through the tunnel, you're not a race fan, plain & simple. Hallowed ground. Epic place.

Started going there in the mid 60's with my Dad (RIP) for Indy qualifying, some of my earliest racing memories.....

From what I remember last year the H*nda garages were the ones closed up....

That first year My Son & I got to meet Simo on the pit walk, he was all laughing & high fives in his polka dot leathers and clown hair. I feel very fortunate to have met him....

    My jokes are no good.

Do I think the US warrants three? Hell if I know. Somebody does. Checks are written, umbrella girls are rounded up, and the races are on the schedule. It does give me three more chances to work at the racetrack, and I'm okay with that.
