No problem, if it’s cancelled, they will reroute you guys to the fine Willow Springs track, where I ran my only AMA national. Place is a dump, but it’s where I learned to race.

No, I just spent 5 days up in the Bay Area, moving my MIL’s stuff to the dump and Salvation Army , meeting with real estate agents, etc.. Tomorrow I get to learn more about my first probate.

Hope you guys all have a great time at Laguna. I always like going there.

Yea I like S Cal better myself. We never even went into the city, my MIL lived in Hercules which is east of the bay. About 10-15 minutes from Berkeley.

My wife lived in Albany which is next door to Berkeley from 2-16 and then moved to S Cal. When we were driving around, she kept saying man I’m so glad I got out of here and moved south.

That facility has everything. I wish the kids cared for it as much as the dad did. I also wish we had a track with all of that in one place here in the SE.

After Tyler raced Willow on a 600 and crashed coming over 6 once and later that day in 9, he said “dad maybe you were a better racer than I gave you credit for”. Lolol

He still has the track record for the SV classes, 1:27:19, if I remember correctly. I only ran 35’s on a 600 back in the early 90’s and the Vance and Hines boys did a 29 and mostly 30’s at the nationals.

I remember buying a “setup” 89 FZR 600 and just racing it. It was wallowing around, but I was still winning novice and then some regular races, when I didn’t crash out.

I didn’t realize that “setup” doesn’t mean gas and go. I had no knowledge back then, before the internet, and there were no suspension guys at the track like we have now.

We didn’t even have warmers back then, but it sure was fun!!!

Why not reroute to Thunderhill? :) Why do you hate NorCal? :)

Thunderhill was fun. Good concessions and that backwards corkscrew was fun to watch.

Lol. I don’t really know the Norcal tracks very well. The only one Tyler ever got to race was Sonoma/Sears Point and that’s one of his favorite tracks. Sonoma would probably be the best choice, if available.

T-Hill is really a first rate facility despite being so far north of civilization. Willows has a couple of decent restaurants that one can really bookend a weekend with.
The AFM paddock is really friendly.

Few spots look like they've had some post-pave work but overall looks pretty good. Will have a better idea after the track walk. PSX_20230705_145602.jpg
