I’ve contacted Atlas on 3 or 4 occasions and they’ve been very responsive. They want to make sure you’re taken care of.

is it worth it? The Atlas Athena and Titan are purpose built for competition which means they’re accurate pistols engineered to return to zero quickly with consistency. They aren’t the only brand out there purpose built for competition. Masterpiece Arms employs many top level shooters whose focus has been to design the DS series into competition winning pistols. In fact, they’re currently the most popular pistol in USPSA Limited Optics.

What separates Atlas from others in the semi-custom competition pistol space is fit and finish. Think Movado vs Rolex. They both tell time equally well but the Rolex fit and finish is superior.

All that said, my competition results aren’t any better with the Atlas vs the Masterpiece Arms so for me, no, there was no performance advantage gained. However, as someone that appreciates the craftsmanship of the Atlas, there’s an intangible satisfaction shooting the Athena.

Bottom line. Dollars and cents, Masterpiece Arms all day.

Atlas for those that appreciate craftsmanship.

Hence my comment about good first step. The courts are next.
There are already lawsuits written up waiting for this bill to be signed and executed into law.
Now that Congress has admitted these are excise taxes, and they were taken to zero, it gives more legal backing to removal from NFA.
This language was added for more than one reason. It was a backup knowing that certain types would demand removal of the good part. Now this law will set another lever in motion.

If you are going to spend that kind of money on a 2011, try Tommy Guns here in Mount Holly, NC I have a couple of his and they run like scalded dogs all day every day at matches

I bought my first handgun this week. A hellcat pro 9mm. I'm Canadian by birth and joked that I feel more American now than when I had my citizenship ceremony lol.

That's odd...you should have been issued a 1911 and a M1 Garand after the ceremony.
Must have been some kind of mistake.

  6. Apparently new shotgun works well enough to overcome a sub-par operator. I’m looking forward to hunting with this thing. Now off to go hunt some dogs, we have a pool going because of all the fireworks and rednecks don’t care what time it is when they can blow shit up.

the new removal of the tax stamp fee is interesting. I had been considering SBRing 3 rifles/pistols (Ruger Charger, CMMG Banshee and one AR lower). This will save my $600, but will be curious to see what happens to wait times and how the process changes. Will probably add a few more cans in the near future but guessing that this will change the wait times and backlog in suppressor inventory.

When the wait times dropped drastically they had a surge of sales that wiped out much of the inventory. This time with a 1/2 years notice I would expect to see sales drop now which should help raise inventory to where the no tax floodgate sales hopefully won’t wipe out everything.

Got the atacr mounted. I forgot how chonky 34mm is… it looks like it could eat the nx8. Did a couple ninja rolls in the garage and the nx8 is no slouch but am looking forward to comparing them. Initial thoughts are I don’t think the nx8 is going to lag very far behind.

From what I've heard at 1x they are both very similar. As you get higher magnification (8x) the eye box on the ATACR is supposed to be better and in low light better optics. Bang for the buck the NX8 seems hard to beat.

I went ahead and got a cat Noah and paid the $200 to try and beat the rush on them
Once the tax goes away. Hoping for a approval in the next few days

I wondered why the site crashed again.

I’ve been trying to cut down on the screen time, it can get a little out of hand. I bought a riser for my AR. Not the full GooBeRS scaffolding, just about a half inch I think. I drop a 22 conversion in it and shoot steel challenge with it. I’ve dropped my times drastically every stage I’ve shot. I wish I didn’t fight the riser thing for so long.
I bought 10,000 rounds from Supervel, that’s gotta count for something. I read one of Ben Stoeger and Joel Park’s books and got serious about training again but man the ammo is disappearing quick. I might be close to Vegas in a few months, I think I’m just going to bite the bullet and get a pallet.

Heeeeelllllll no! 10k 124gr certified select, slight price difference :D
Have you shot the 77 OTM yet? They brought their trailer to Dragons cup and some guys I shoot with that shoot 2 and 3 gun have been really impressed with it. Rifle ammo is expensive enough, I’m still a 55 GR certified select kind of guy.

Working on adding an Atlas Alpha grip to my Staccato XC vs the plastic one it had. M and Z Anodizing in Dallastown, PA did a pretty darned good job give it a little color for me.

I recently shot some imi 77gr otm and it’s crazy accurate at 100 yrds, like 1 moa. Was my first time using that as my buddy gave me some. I just did a search and don’t think there’s any available other than a random dude selling some on a forum I visit

This is the place to get it generally. If you keep an eye on ammoseek, you may occasionally stumble on some but it’s honestly just easier to keep an eye on midway. They seem to have a strange hold on the supply. Maybe the best bang for the buck 70+ gr out there. Some of hornadys offerings used to be close back when it could be found for not much more per round. But now it’s generally a lot more and while it is better ammo, there’s a much broader price gap. Just be signed up for midways email list and wait for free shipping over x $ then stock up. Also, chrono it sometime and while you’re at it, chrono some of their m193 while you’re at it. Results are… amusing.
