Maryland Small Arms. Not too far out of DC. They do training and also rentals for their onsite range.

What are you guys doing about holsters for a variety of pistols? I've got 10 or so pistols that I'd like to get holsters for but half of them are either not particularly common or fairly new so I'm struggling to find holsters. Ideally I'd like stuff that's compatible with Safariland's QLS system. These are all intended to be range/competition holsters, preferably run with a drop. No daily carry element need be considered.

He's on the Arlington side of that shithole. You know, not far on the beltway is 2-3 hours...

From Arlington, it’s really not far at all. But yep, dc beltway traffic is anyone’s guess. But it shouldn’t take him much more than 45 minutes depending on time of day. Plus as goofy as it is being it’s Maryland……..you can even rent wasr-10s there for the real semi-auto effect. I’ve got a brother in law who has a nephew that works there. I dont know what’s available in that part of NOt-VAguely Virginia as far as training etc.

I’d check out Hammer Armament and QVO Tactical.

Double Alphas Race Holster also is freakin awesome

The live fire practice will most likely result in me learning how to reload.

Good advice on the practice sessions. It’s easy to lose sight of the effectiveness component.

Check out Shoot by Julie Golub. It walks the reader through shooting from the ground up.

    DAA Flex Holster
    Muzzle Support Assembly
Insert Blocks order both A and B

This set-up will fit almost every pistol you have but requires adjustment for each.

The Race holster Darrin suggested has individual inserts for each pistol which makes changeover faster. You simply buy the inserts you need for your specific pistols.

Do you run a flashlight? There are a few that index off of the light. If your pistol can mount the light then they are almost universal. I have a Tier 1 MSP OWB that fits a Streamlight TLR-1 HL. Depending on the gun it’s either a great fit or just a touch loose but certainly acceptable for range toy or competition use. They can cut it for Safariland.

I know where there’s a sealed sardine can with 1k rounds :D…….PSA was supposed to start pumping out their 545 ammo. Haven’t checked if it’s up and running yet.

What’s the hot ticket for in ear ear pro right now? I’ve got a big dome and after a long match I’ll start to get a headache with my current muffs squeezing in on my eye pro. I think they are Walker extremes. Looking for in ear that could hopefully work with shooting a rifle outdoors. I just did an unofficial 2 gun match last weekend and I can see that happening a lot more.

Otto keeps popping up but man they are spendy! Is Axil any good or do they just have a great social media department? Any other options? I don’t have to have Bluetooth I’m just looking for good active protection.

I have the MSA Sordin Supreme Pro X (Amazon link, maybe cheaper elsewhere, idk). I hate stuff in my ears and these have been REALLY comfortable for wearing all day. And perform very well. My 3 gun partner has been trying the Axils and is not impressed. They were ok to begin with but not stellar. But then got wet and haven't done well since. That said, if you're one of those that just hates over the ear muffs (like him), I don't know what to tell you. I've not actually heard of any plugs that people really liked universally. That's part of my buddy's problem right now. Luckily I don't mind over ear (but hate in-ear).

I use a Safariland QLS setup that’s on a True North Concepts drop let in a GBRS belt. Swapping holsters for different guns takes two seconds and Safariland has a massive selection of kit. Plus, there’s a lot of support for their holsters’ locking pattern. In the off chance you have a gun they don’t support, someone probably makes a holster that works with their system.

… and I prefer ANY holster with locking system after being DQ’d at an event in which I was in the running for top gun. High-friction, tight gripping kydex is nice n’ all, but it doesn’t hold a 2011 in place very well over a 30 yard sprint. The funny part about that run, no one noticed the gun fell out until it was time to unload and show clear. As in “WTF IS MUH GUNNNNN?!”

Yea that’s the problem I’m running into. I actually have a few guns safariland doesn’t currently support. I currently run one of their level 2s on a drop leg for my VP9 but I’m finally getting comfortable enough with it that I’d like to start trying my other guns in comp (I’ve been competing with my EDC with the mindset that I need to be VERY proficient with it before I start worrying about having fun with other guns).

And 100% agree with locking retention (assuming it’s an option). Someone gets DQ’ed damn near every match I run for the exact scenario that caught you out. Luckily it’s never been me. But I’ve seen it enough to learn from it.
