    ryoung57 Off his meds

I had an SW99, which is the same gun as the walther P99, which is an earlier version of the PPQ. It looked cool but I didn't like it. It never pointed naturally for me like a Glock does.

A good friend gave me this for my birthday this year.
    Pre WWI Colt 45 :bow::):bow: Serial # 20,xxx
Finish is worn, but the gun is tight/smooth/perfect mechanically.

    TY!
I think it was made in 1912, so it's over 100 years old
I'll never shoot it, but it is cool to look at it :)

What? Why wouldn't you shoot it??

I've got a mil-spec 1911 by Springfield... The blingy ones are nice, but I like the G.I. Models.. No frills, no bling, just bare-bones, purpose built.

    TakeItApart Oops!

My boss just picked up a PPQ and he loves it. He specifically mentioned that the trigger was one of the greatest he's had on an OEM pistol. I haven't had the chance to shoot one yet, but I've heard good things.

Have you tried a CZ 75 SP-01? If not, I'd recommend at least trying one before committing to any on your list.

The CZ 75 SP-01 and Sig P320 were also on my list, but haven't had a chance to hold either one in my hands. I've heard the CZ is very accurate, which is a key factor for my choice. The CZ also looks to be close to 1911 "feel" and mechanics (not striker fired), so I'll need to check it out.

The trigger on the PPQ and HK VP9 were very similar.

It didn't feel as comfortable in my hand and the trigger was a bit different feel than the HK and Walther.

Turb, the old 1911's had 'soft' slides and the chamber-faces are mallable and the slides are known to crack.....not worth the risk, shooting it.
It was a beautiful gift, made my heart float....I just like holding it and looking at it and remembering the heart-felt moment of receiving it :)

I want to buy an M4 semi-auto, base gun, no widgets or doodads.
I can build one from receiver and parts kits (dpms/RRA/etc) or buy a colt LE6920 for about a grand.
This will be a 'keeper' rifle, not interested in ever reselling it.
Is it worth the extra money to buy the Colt?

Beautiful 1911....I have always been a fan of the Springfield Armory guns
I like the traditional WW1-WW2 1911's. The tricked out guns are cool, but it is the traditional style ones that get me excited

This is mine. It's the Ultra Compact which I wouldn't have selected but since it was a gift I can't complain. I much prefer the pistol turbulence has. Also have an S&W .45 that my brother gave me. It is a fantastic shooter at the range.

I like those old Smith autos. I shot a S&W 10mm compact (4013) and it was the cat's arse. Lotta punch in that small package.
It's a shame S&W no longer produces those old series of handguns

I'm blank as to the model # of the S&W but it is one fine shooting weapon.

My brother traded a guy an amplifier for it and then when his wife found out he had a gun in their house she freaked. He came over with this sad puppy dog looking face and said, here you go bro...it's yours. (he can't shoot for shit anyway:))

If it was a 10mm, it would have been the 1006, no?

    If it was a 45, it would have been a S&W 4506.
    10mm is a 1006
    9mm is a 5906

There are several variants of each.
