Didn't Honda do a version a few years back? One that didn't have a bunch of jink straight line styling crap to it?

The one 'toe posted might be a good starting point for a classic Suzuka 8 hr project but expensive.

Stopped to look at a Honda yesteday. Priced right in the range I could live with but who in the shit wants a bike with a 38" seat height? That don't work in no way for me. :D

Awesome bikes, supposed to be available in US. Apparently this is it, Honda is stopping production.

I just went to Honda's website. The company has lost its way. The only bike that appeals to me is the Trail 125. The rest of the line up is as exciting as a new toaster oven.

I Had a 750 Nighthawk S as a demo when they first came out, It was a great bike except for they made the north American version
with a shaft drive and it had a ton of rise under load. The UK ones got a chain drive, I've always wanted to update one by putting a 17
inch wheel on the front and buying from a UK wrecker the parts to convert it to a chain drive with a modern 750 motor in it.
Be a real cool retro restore.

I bought a blue CB700S for the wife. It was as close to a maintenance free bike as you could get. Was adequate power, hydraulic valve adjusters, shaft drive....change the oil and put tires on it when they were needed.....that was about it.

Right I forgot that the states back then had the 700cc to get around some law at the time. I can tell you the 750 nighthawk would slightly pull away from
the then new VFR750 doing a sided by side roll-on highway test.

The limit had something to do with Harley. Too long ago to remember...oh yeah, it had to do with a tariff on import bikes over 700 cc.

You remember! Same reason we got a VFR700 and FZ700…

Surely you jest? The story I recall involved Harley lobbying the fed to impose tariffs on all imported motorcycles over 700cc. An obvious attempt to slow the onslaught of Japanese 750+ cc bikes that they believed were the only contributing factor to their dismal sales in the U.S.

Sorry, I didn't see your edit before I posted.

Same time that a Senator Danforth was trying to kill sportiness. Ride with a group of guys in Raleigh way back when. Guy had a 1100F with a vanity plate "4DNFRTH" or something to that effect. I mean it was over 40 years ago.
