I don’t understand the darkside thing, that wide, flat tire looks like it will fight you hard when you go to lean the bike.

Dudes swear they handle great, but I think they are full of shit and don’t know what good handling is.

Your collection of 74 Austrian bikes has turned you into a Yankee, Britt. Do you put your pinkie out when you drink your Fiji water? :D

I just know as that ad use to say "Confidence is Everything".

    (The fk is Fiji Water??)

Bottled water that they bottle and ship from the island of Fiji.

My cat liked it. :D We really just refilled a empty bottle I had and he thought it was real Fiji. He was happy with it and it didn't hurt to let him think it was real.

Exactly my experience with H-D tires and research. Even the manufacturers market towards mileage and rarely discuss dry grip. I settled on Metzler Cruisetec as the sportiest option. Riding friends were dumbfounded when I explained grip was my number one priority.

Harley guys concerned with tires

The only way they would be concerned is if somebody wised up and put them in the Screaming Eagle catalog and labeled them “Stage 3”. Maybe also if somebody figures out how to chrome a tire.

What's a Darksider? Never heard that term in the motorcycle world (back home it was person who went across the border to NY State after the bars closed at 2 in PA and at 4 in NY).

I recently acquired an SV1000 with a fresh set of Shinkos. I haven't pushed it because I'm scared. I'll toss it into a corner soon and see what happens. If I'm gone for more than a month or two, don't buy Shinkos.

I had heard of Gold Wing guys doing that but I thought it was a myth. Makes sense if all you care about is getting max miles out of a tire.

No middle ground on this. There are those who will get 50000 miles out of a tire, and those who think a bike will violently crash leaving the driveway.

    Me too, 705s on r1100gs and r12gs.
Run hard in N. GA roads, stick and wear well.
Had 805 rear on gs11, impressive grip on pavement. Ask the RSV4 factory I was in front of .
    YMMV
