Will the tanks from the 1998 and 1999 GSXR 750 Fuel Injected bikes fit on the 1996-1997 GSXR 750 carb bikes? Can you just switch out the fuel pumps?
the 98/99 fuel injected has a return line for the unused fuel that isnt used.96/97 dont have a hookup for the return line .
Yes the tanks will go on either bike. A 97 will work on a 98 if you add a return line and bend the internal tank vent line. I welded in a 1/4 steel pipe into a 97 600 tank to work on my 98 750. To install a fuel injection tank just cut off the return pipe and weld up the hole. Remember to use caution. All gas fumes must be eliminated first.
I have a 96 that i put a 98-99 tank on just last week. Use a piece of hose with a plug(I used a small lag bolt) clamped to close off the return line and switch out the fuel pumps. Took all of 15 minutes!! Now my plain white Air-tech body work has a pretty blue/white tank to go with it!! The gold/black just wasn't happenin!!
