Coming up on Round 2 and I finally picked up some VP Race Fuel. Im looking for any advice as there's a shit ton available between VP and Sunoco. My compression ratio is 11.5:1, I run a PC V with their standard mapping and I'm not messing with timing. I've managed to run 93 pump fuel for the past couple years doing track days and had no pre-detonation issues that I know of. I ran race fuel at homestead one time and definitely noticed a difference in performance. Any advice is appreciated.

no need for race fuel if you're not mapped/tuned for it.
How did you determine your static compression ratio??

I just pulled it from the repair manual. Internals are stock

VP T4+ will net you a small gain (0% to 4%) without a remap over pump, but $120 for 5 gallons hurts.

yeah, plus shipping... thats the real kicker

yeah thats a dream at best. If it were my bike Id be doing a compression test and leak down to see what kind of cylinder pressures it has. Then run 93 pump fuel from the same station for consistency. I would also do a weekly check of the ethanol laced fuel you are purchasing with an inexpensive test kit.
If you find you want to add $300+ to a weekend running race fuel and the frequent maintenance it requires (tank drains, siphons, fuel swaps, etc)... build the engine for it.

Martin Lewis Can we go back to the track already?

I was starting to think MAYBE I'd look into doing some race fuel/fancy engine stuff on the r3, but the idea of having to drain the fuel after a race weekend has definitely sold me on keeping it stock.

When not dreaming it is more like 10.8:1 but one sheet out of the gasket will get it close.

Speaking of your R3, are coming to Road Atlanta next week? It will be my first ride since last year and I need somebody to ride with since Aiden seems to have gotten faster!

Damn skippy. I might be in slightly over my head doing the 2 hour solo, then jumping on the GSXR for another team, but we'll see. I've only done 5 TD sessions at RA and that was on the GSXR, so I'm probably not gonna be the person to follow on Friday.

That is number by measuring combustion chamber.

T4+ has 6% oxygen. We tested it compared to MGP-R and it defintiely required a fueling change.

Oxygenation isn't the only number that determines that, density plays a role too, the combo of both with T4+ means it should play well on a map that was done well for pump 93. You may be able to squeeze more doing a custom map for it, but as a fuel it's designed to work as a drop in for pump.

Stupid question. In trackdays and club racing do the gains from spicy fuel over 93 actually make enough of a difference to justify the added cost and effort?

Imo no (25+ years racing on pump fuel).

I've dynod 2 different bikes on T4+ on 2 different dynos and both had a substantial lean shift in AFR. I'm only speaking on what I have seen.

I've got one bike with direct experience, VP and tuner both said 'send it' on a pump gas map on T4. Bike appeared to be slightly fat on T4. Current project, tuner has both T4 and T4 Plus experience, again, 'send it' on the pump gas built map. I've not run this bike on T4+ yet to see how it behaves in comparison, but by the posted VP numbers it shouldn't map differently. There may be small gains from dialing it in specifically vs a well setup pump map, but I'm expecting a single percentage point at most based on what I'm getting from everyone around me. Given I'll only be on T4 + until I'm done chasing MotoA, so likely no more after Mid Ohio, I'm not going to chase that last 1%.

I have done some expiermenting on mine with fuels.
Running a single shim out the stock gasket. 012 thick for as much comp as possible with stock pistons.
I tried Renegade race fuel 110 leaded, straight 93 pump no ethanol, and a 50/50 mix.
It felt the strongest up top on 93, hands down.
It does however seem to have a little better throttle response and snap out of the corners on the mix.
The straight leaded race fuel was complete overkill.
Just not enough cylinder pressure to need that much octane. Engine actually revs slower and dosent accelerate near as well. .
    Does smell pretty exotic though.
Honestly unless you're getting the bike mapped and tuned to take full advantage of higher octane and an oxygenate but crave more than pump gas you're better off running a blend of c11 and pump gas, or the new c9 vp fuel.
