This. I can’t tell you how many times I see “weather delay” on bright sunny days. Or fed ex will just literally leave stuff in the street. Luckily they do such a half ass job that no one has stolen my stuff because it looks like discarded trash someone chucked to the curb. No issues with UPS or USPS doing that kind of stuff, delays yes, slow speed yes, but at least it arrives.
My buddy, thats a longshoreman, is facing that reality as well. The saps getting hired these days are drunk on the 6 figures they make and wont likely make 10 years before automation pushes them out.
if you have anything going through the USPS sorting facilities around Atlanta get ready for a delay. They are a mess Fedex delivers to my house before noon which is nice. UPS is like 5pm and USPS is later too. The USPS driver is a good dude but the sorting here is so bad it's not worth mailing anything USPS.
My USPS gal puts the big packages in my woodshed. Same with the UPS driver. The Fedex driver can't be bothered, they go where ever he gets out of his truck.
We don’t actually pay much from the fed budget to the USPS for services. Maybe $50 million? That’s mostly for covering losses on services they have to provide that are mandated by law. There are also one time payments for stuff each year, some of which have been big, but that’s usually been to cover revenue foregone stuff. As shitty as they are at a lot of things, it’s almost entirely self funded. Still, massive reform is needed.
Any of you other old timers remember when FedEx was used as a business school case study in corporate efficiency and customer service? "When it absolutely, positively, HAS to be there overnight," has been gone a long time. Now it's more of a take what you can get and be damn happy about it.
I've never had problems in all the years I shipped with Fed-X . Last year they have been terrible . Problem 1} I'm closed on Monday's . My local driver knows that I live behind my shop , except he's off on Monday's. It's a crap shoot as who the drive will be from week to week . If I want any chance of getting my delivery , I have to turn the Open sign on . Even with that , I still get tracking notices that "Delivery Attempt Made - Business Closed ." Yet when I talk to my regular driver , I'm told the package was never loaded for delivery . Numerous calls and I still have problems . Then there's this which is still going on . https://myfox8.com/news/fedex-making-changes-after-complaints-about-kernersville-hub/
Up until this year I never had any major issues. Minor shit here and there but I lived in the DC urban sprawl. Here? It can be hit or miss and not just UPS.
Just delivered a package and I got it on video. Does anyone remember how "pet detective" handled his package? I could hear a very loud drop to a $400 insta360 device smh
My wife used to be a FedEx courier 20+ years ago. She said then that the company had changed when the bean counters really took over.
Like I said....Fedex (overnight/air/2day/etc) is usually really good. Thats mostly fedex corporate. The Fedex that says Fedex Ground should be named an entirely different name. Its not even close. There are routes for sale to contractors who then hire the cheapest local help they can find. And Fedex doesnt pay the contractor much...and you have to meet all these performance targets, etc. I am sure depending on your local area, the local contractor, etc the ground can be great, ok or a steamy pile o'shit. Mostly them seem ok to pile from what ive heard. source - One of my best friends owned a Fedex ground route in ATL for ~3+ years. The problems and stories....heres an example...guy is mad at the manager, him...whatever. He loads his truck in the am...doesnt scan any of his packages though, as that way they would be tracked during the day. Drives his truck around the corner at the depot...filled with Fedex trucks...parks it and leaves...quits..doesnt say anything. Its the next day before anyone notices all these packages are "missing" and they find the truck. It took 2-3 days for this to all get delivered. This type of crap was pretty common...again fedex ground. Dont use it unless you have to. About 600+ fedex ground routes for sale right now.... https://www.bizbuysell.com/fedex-routes-for-sale/ If they were so good why so many for sale?
I feel like we just had this same conversation recently. Or maybe that was a different forum full of grumpy old men. *Yep, 3rd thread this year about carriers sucking. It's confirmed, they all suck. With that out of the way, what's the best motor oil for a Gixxer? Does it matter if the bike is in a red state or a blue state?
Synthellasoil... so light & high performance it tastes & performs great on tofu noodle salad!! Red limiters in bloo states with liquor before queer & youre in the clear!
Pro Circuit chose to send my Works Pipe and 304 silencer for the 1990 Honda CR125 FedEx Ground. Took a week to get from California to Alabama, left on my front doorstep. The Oregon ebay guy has used UPS for his stuff, same time frame and always on the front doorstep. Honda East seems to use USPS for the most part.
I could do...but I would have to call out the dufus working for Fedex who parked his truck out of view around the corner. What's he hiding from? And why does he slam my box down like he is mad?
