F-150 Platinum OTD Pricing/Reviews?

Seriously considering purchasing a 2012 F-150 platinum. Sticker is 53k, and the dealer is looking at OTD pricing of $48k which is $1k under invoice. I know 'invoice pricing' means jack. This would be my first real truck. It has every option I can think of....everything from the moving running boards to premium sony sound to remote start...to even a step on the tailgate - not to mention the ecoboost v6.

So for those of you with F-150s how much were you able to talk them down off the sticker? Anything to be aware of quality wise?

Sounds like a shitload of cash for a V6. Yeah, yeah, vibrating cigarette lighter and glow in the dark cup holders but do you need all that shit on a $53K V6 pick up?

Thinking a 150 is a real truck is your first mistake, paying 48k for one is your 2nd. Go drive a used f250 or 350 diesel before you do anything crazy. Low mileage examples can be had in the 20's, and are proven work horses that will last beyond the last payment.

Don't buy the Platinum. The F-150 isn't a 'real truck' in my book, either.

The EcoBoost isn't ALL that. If you HAVE to spend $50k go get a diesel.

You can get an XLT Chrome EcoBoost cheaper.

For very nearly as strong a motor, and a BUTTLOAD less cash, check out a Dodge 1500. I think the seats are better (though the interiors are slightly lesser). If you can 'get into' the rear suspension feeling on the Dodge, it's a bargain.

I drove 'em all. I bought a Dodge for a lot less than the Platinum. FWIW, it's about 80% of a 'Real Truck' IMO, a Cummins and solid front and I'd say it's as real as taxation.

If I had to buy a diesel for me (already have one in the family) I'd be looking at an F-250.

48K is waaaaay too much for an F150 in my opinion. No fucking way is it worth that much. Plus think of the depreciation as soon as you drive it off the lot. 10K+ right there.

For that kind of money it had better be a top of the line diesel, make breakfasts for ya, and include hooker delivery service.

Ever thought of a used, say a year old truck, with low mileage? I got a 2011 Titan with only 8100 miles for $10k under what they would be asking for a new one. I know it's a Titan and you're looking at an F-150, but the same theory applies.

And +1 regarding used 3/4 or 1 tons for that kind of coin.

I think we paid about $48K for our loaded Z71 Suburban.....leather, nav, dvd, rear buckets...ect. No way in hell I would pay that much for a F150 pickup.

Do some research and check out what the dealer incentives are in your region right now. Those trucks have 4 or 5 grand (at least) of markup, plus another $1500 or more of dealer holdback. End of year deals should be more like 10k off that truck.

I bought my '12 f150 ecoboost with the fx2 package (heat/cool leather seats, back up camera, powering sliding rearglass and a few other options im forgetting) . I was OTD for 36k and it was 8k off the sticker. Im actually really impressed with mine. Personally i wouldnt think about a diesel unless your really going to pull over 9-10k lbs. But 48k for a platinum seems steep

For $27k I was able to get my F-350, and my wifes F250. Throw in my Integra, and my Fatboy and were still under $35k. I could have kept my Silverado and all of these for what you're looking at on that one truck.

For real, Lever? That is away too much money for ANY 1/2 ton, let alone the F150. Jeez Dude, c'mon. :tut:

My 350 still looks new, the 250 has big tires and can squash things, and both are hopped up. The integra gets over 30mpg. The HD is hopped up, so it's a better kind of slow and get 50mpg.

Screw the Jones's, we've almost paid off our house.

I just purchased an f350 diesel with 70k in top condition for 24k. Sticker was 50k just a few years ago. Truck is near mint with another 14 months of warranty on the motor and trans. Just be sure u have a friend that works at a dealer that can run the vin to be sure you are buying a solid truck and not a bad apple. The carfax deals are helpful but only tell half the story. Good luck

$48k Yikes! I paid $3k more for a pretty much fully loaded '12 2500HD with the Duramax.
