I have a tremendous storehouse of knowledge, lucky for you I haven't been using it (or maybe unlucky, you wouldn't have ass packed me and crashed if I had had 4 more hp ). (thanks...and funny, too )
I agree with no motor mods, and with no witch brewing fuel. Was just saying if the rules are clear about fuel for SS then let's stick with it
You and me both. I'd love to get stomped in ESS by old guys and young guns alike, just don't have the budget. Mini's will take off the edge for now...
Kurt, your funny. But you can buy fuel, in a can, already mixed from the manufacturer that produces more HP, than additives. Is it legal, yes, is it expensive, yes.
I know it's been stated, but too lazy to search! What is the top speed of a 250 say on the Rd Atlanta back straight? Preferably with a normal size adult rider!
By yourself, 102-105, in the draft 108-112, those are the numbers that stick in my mind, from our gps.
similar "i'm not willing to read 100 pages" question: is it even remotely possible to be competitive on a first-gen 250 with the 16" wheels? I enjoy racing small bikes, but I insist that they're also dirt cheap... People lose me when they spend more money on their 250 than it would cost me to pick up a first-gen SV650.
Hello, it's been a long year but the 250 build is finished! EBR Performance built Forks Slingshot Racing Pre-load adjust JRI 3 Way Shock Hot Bodies Race Bodywork Driven Clip-ons Shogun Frame Sliders Emission Block-off Leo Vince Corsa Slip-on Galfer Steel Braided Front DP Brake Pads Bridgestone Battlax BT-003 Tires Stompgrip
RK97, no, you will not be competitive on 16s. Several peiople have converted the the older gen to new gen wheels. Much better rubber on 17s.
Anyone looking or know someone looking, mine will be on the classifieds in the next week or so. Getting back on something bigger.
We arent running warmers and have been 25 psi cold on the BT-003's. Havent had any issues with slip or grip this season.
I know you might not want to post up the fuel of which you speak, but is it MR12? That's what Dynos to be best on my SV. AND, what type of HP gain are you taking!!! It would cost just as much to build a competitive SV, or basically any bike that you want to have even a remote chance of running for some wood. And it seems like there are more racers in ESS than LWTs now, and competition is the fun for me, regardless of finish place. Sell that 1st gen and pick up a race ready 2nd (3rd) gen for around 2 grand. For the money you spend overall you would get a very suspect SV. Eek! Back in the day when I ran 003s pressure off warmers was like 30-29. This was my RC51 so maybe bike weight is the change? no warmers? Decreases tire life with the abrupt cool down plus (take it from me)all it will possibly take is a single crash to cause serious damage to your person. Not worth the risk my friend!
Jesus!! What did yall do to my thread!?!?! MR12 produces the most period. The nitro, is a good cheap alternative. And yes. The U4.4 was discussed. As well as the XXX. But they are gone. Spect fuel too hard to regulate. So how did this weekend at RRR go?
It's a street tire. There is no decrease in tire life from cooling down. The tires are fine without warmers. They warm very quickly on a sighting lap. I run street tires without warmers every weekend at the track on my 750 teaching schools and running trackdays. It's a non issue. At 11 psi under recommended they heat up plenty fast and you dont grease them from keeping them too hot. The other issue is predictability. The 250's have a hard time keeping temp in the tires. So if my tires get hotter as the race goes and yours get colder.... You need to understand these bikes are going 100 mph. We arent throwing near the load at the tire that a 600 or 1000 is. Tire warmers are overkill and not necessary if your running street rubber like the 003 RS. Your results may vary. We run on a very abrasive track in a hot climate. We parked the bikes in the sun and had 136 degrees in the tires from ambient temps last race weekend.
No that part is fun, and racing with you has been fun too, definitely impressive times out of the little Honda. Just a couple things bothering me this year so I'm gonna give something else a try
Jesse, sorry to hear that, you have been enjoyable to watch as you pull away in the races. I know you have been having pity on me during practice and letting me get a tow. Thank you for letting me learn and I hope you next endeavor is just as much fun. See you around.
