    +1 on humans suck.
They can get adopted to be used as bait dogs too sadly.

Not to totally feline the dog thread, but this is Oreo that passed. He acted like a dog. Walked on a leash, went for car rides, went to the beach, went out on the boat with me. Dude just loved being outside and doing shit. Miss him every day.

I love cats like that, and I'm not a cat person. I had one that would ride on the tank while I pulled whoolies in my yard. I could stop, and he would chase me to get back on the bike.

We have the same problem in N.California. The local Humane society wont even take them anymore, and they get dumped left to starve, and thirst to death by a lake that has salt water not fit to drink. It makes me sick

Man, we had a cat for almost 18yrs. Our cat predated our kids, and he was all they ever knew as a pet. He was here before thet arrived. When we had to put him down 1.5yrs ago, we said it was going to be a year before we got another pet. Adopted out dog Maverick from a rescue in April, and honestly, even though the cat was less work, I couldnt imagine going back to a cat. The dog has just taken all of us and wrapped us around his paw

This is so sad to read. Detroit Animal Control (DAC) is way better than it used to be before Duggan. There's a GSD at Oakland County Animal Control that's under a court order hold. His owner beat him and they had to shave him to see all the bruises on him. Still, with all that trauma, he is very friendly to people. Amazing how resilient these puppers are!

I had a nearly identical experience. We lived in a 6000 sq ft house on an acre. My wife has trained dogs to their cgc, urban cgc, therapy dog, etc. They wouldn’t let us adopt because we didn’t have a fence. Fences weren’t allowed in our neighborhood. We bought one of the hated doodles and couldn’t be happier. :moon: (technically he’s a mutt just like everyone says you get)

    You need to understand -

A lot of those "detroit folks" breed pits, to fight them and make money

The others breed them to sell, then realize they're in deep.

Either way they end up with too many pits and they're bred 10x faster than they get adopted. Landlords won't allow them, and now HOAs won't either and in some cases I've heard of home insurance as well.

I used to do work at mhs on jos campau.....they couldn't euthanize the pits fast enough. 5 more would come in the next day.

No kill shelter is a novel idea and all but that flat out doesn't work down there

We live on an island and on the water no fences allowed also so view isn't blocked.

We installed invisible fence brand not the Costco shit that came with full training package. I don't even put the collar on the dog anymore. She can chase a squirrel and screech to a halt at the fence line.

Actually, that is Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society on Jos Campau. The amish breed most of the puppies out there under inhumane conditions. That's where most of those "hybrid" types are born. I try to pull out any roadside signs advertising puppies for sale. Screw those backyard breeders. Here are some photos of the amish puppy mills. Warning graphic photos.

Da'bitch front and center, G'rilla laying by the door plotting escape.

This was 13 years ago today at the vet getting a checkup. They're both gone now, but never forgotten.

Thank you. They were both chained, living (if you can call it that) mostly off of the largesse of neighbors. Someone in the rescue group we volunteered with at the time basically stole them. G'rilla was so malnourished, even in the womb, that her teeth never developed enamel.

I cried on the day that she refused a tater tot on the patio at Sonic. To go from eating your own feces, to refusing a tater tot is a helluva (and Hellish) journey.

    DAMMIT,... Something in my eye...

Damn! Been there myself more times than I care to remember! Those darn coprophagia dogs can be disgusting at times esp. when there's one hanging out of their mouth!
On a brighter note here's Clyde, a large unaltered Doberman. Available for adoption at a local shelter in S.E. Michigan. Contact me for more specifics.
