I'm in need of some dog advice My dog has a code brown each night while we are sleeping....the gooey one. We have her on chicken breast and white rice for a while now and it helped at first but has come back. Just sent a do doo sample to the vets testing lab. She's only 3 so not an old age thing.
A house trained dog pooping in the house indicates an actual digestive system issue, but maybe something simple. First thing I would change is add canned pumpkin to the dog's food every feeding. Give her the same volume of canned pumpkin as one of her metacarpal pads each day. Not pumpkin pie filling... Canned pumpkin. Don't overdo it and give her too much, but you can give them that on an ongoing basis. Mine's been on it for years and she poops solid 98.6% of the time. Take her on walks in grassy areas and see what type of grass she eats give her time to sniff it out. Buy a couple of sod squares of that and put it in your yard and let it overgrow. Get a doggie door. Yes, they're a yuuuuuuge security breach, but that's part of dog ownership. If you have one of those astroturf yards, yank that shit out and lay sod.
My collie has a somewhat sensitive stomach. All things considered, I guess he's a somewhat sensitive dog. Anyway, sweet potatoes are the answer.
Sweet potatoes works, too. You're looking for the fibrous binder. I'm not sure the 'dosage' on them, though.
My friends' work was sponsoring an 'adopt-a-pet' a few weeks ago. She sent me a pic of this girl....30 mins later I asked what breed, or mix....then she sent me another pic and was like "this one"?, as it sat in her front seat on the way home. I persuaded her daughter to go with naming her Molly. Buck is the big brother Pit in the water. They get along great.
Thanks man, will definitely check them out....the challenge with him and beds is that he's NOT chewing through them....he figured out to lift the flap and target the zipper tracks and split them to get to the foam....fastest he's done it is under 30 secs (because that's how long I turned my back on him, heard that tell tale "up to no good sound"....turned around and saw him spit out a piece of foam)....cant lie, after I was done trying to control my laughing, I was like, "shit, Im in trouble with those problem solving skills"...... Fortunately, he's fully vaccinated now so I can walk/ let him run off my yard and that has helped alot, but you definitely piqued my curiosity and thanks again for the recommendation!!!
Tank walks in from the morning walk and heads straight for his. It sits in front of the A/C vent. He'll stay there all day if you let him.
You guys were right. Canned pumpkin was a game changer. Nice solid dog poop and no more midnight accidents.
