I'm looking at some different slip ons for my FJR; there's not a lot to choose from, and I stumbled across Delkevic. From what I can gather, they have a decent "following" among the FJR guys, but I wanted to see what you guys knew of them. Any thoughts on their quality, particularly their carbon fiber?
I've had a couple, very good esp. for the price. No experience with the carbon. IMO carbon cans are generally a bad idea, especially on a street bike
I've only had a few CF cans for the street, 2 Akrapovic and one Yoshi. Both of those were well made and never gave me issues. I've seen other CF cans delaminate, fade, and basically fall apart on street bikes, so I'm a little leery of CF, especially if I don't know the company well.
I had two Delkevic slip ons on my street SV for a few years. The boy racer carbon shorty that came on it got jettisoned almost immediately because I like my neighbors. The stainless 14" one I replaced it with was surprisingly good quality, and never gave a second thought to it over 4 or 5 thousand miles. Mellow sound with the DB killer and saved a few pounds.
I saw those short 8" cans. They seem like "technicality mufflers." How much can a straight through 8" can really muffle the sound of a bike?
Sounds like a China Inc. product with a pseudo european name but if they fit your need, who cares about that.
The one I had on my SV was ear shattering. It appeared to be good quality though and the welds looked nice.
I hadnt really bought anything Hindle with the on/off tariffs lately but Lang builds quality exhaust components that are very reasonable money. For those in need of db killers he offers options. http://www.hindle.com/
Had Delkevic on both my Gen 2 and # FJR. Things never lined up vertically or horizontally. Center stand stopper tab was way off on both. End of the carbon splintered on one at a rivet and Delk deflected any warranty and said the only way that happened was an impact. So moved those and just bought Yoshimura carbon slips that are still on the '13.
My brother just ordered one of these for his S1000XR. Made in Poland, it was delivered in 5 days. We put it on last week and it seems to be a quality piece. Here's the options for the FJR. I'm thinking about getting one for my Guzzi V85. https://dominatorexhaust.com/en_US/...EX0J3RQ..*_gcl_au*NjY2MTQxNTkzLjE3NDk1NzkyMzY.
Funny enough I’ve parted two bikes with those and both sold fairly fast on eBay. o am not too familiar but both were decent quality, stainless, fairly good fit. Not an akra but definitely woth the $300-$500 I sold them for. I think I might have one more off an FZ8
I have one on my SV and it's fine for a race bike. Looks like good quality, has held up well for a couple of years and has crashed well too. Their factory is in the UK, but the manufacture of some of their systems has been out-sourced to China. Not sure if there's a quality difference between where they're manufactured. Not to get into a geo-political discussion, but Chinese manufacturing isn't always bad (in fact, it can be good), but it is cheaper. The issue is when a company realizes how much cheaper it can be if they go with lower quality Chinese production.
I grabbed a set of them w/ carbon tips for my 2009 RSV1000R because finding fairly priced Leo Vince or Akrapovic cans for that bike is cost prohibitive... I am happy with the quality/price/sound trifecta...
I've had them on two bikes: 2nd gen SV and the 06 750 track bikes. They're fine, especially for the price. They're both much better than the crap that was badly welded onto the bikes when I bought them. They're British if anyone cares.
I put one on the Kawasaki Concours I had. Quality was fine and it looked like much better than oem. I’d buy one again with no reservations.
Hindle has been totally underrated for decades. I had a SS Hindle system for my R1 that was lighter then a comparable fancy ass "WSBK" titanium LeoVince system.
