Howdy folks, have another 2-stroke here I think you guys are gonna like. I picked this up from Tim last year and drove out there to meet him in person. Very nice guy, and he was happy but sad to let this one go. It was not running at the time, needed some finishing up for ex. tank brackets, motor and suspension refresh, wiring, etc.

I dropped it off at https://www.moto-meccanica.com/ and I have to say, Joe has been great, and I would recommend him for any 2-stroke, Ducati, or basically any motorcycle work!!

Well, we are getting close, and I just wanted to share the project with all you 2-stroke addicts!! I do not think I will get to ride it this year, I am in NY/NJ area, but for sure I will beginning of next year.

Here is the original info from the post:

Built in the late 90's/early 2000's by a NASCAR fabricator, John Rairigh, never finished, sitting in my garage for many years. ZX7R front end, ZX11 radiator, Fox Shock, RC 45 upper, TZ250 Tail, ZX6 rear wheel. Modified Honda Hawk tank. Custom expansion chamber and silencer.

We went ahead and redid the entire motor, new cylinder and piston, all new gaskets and covers.

    We also went with a new Smart Carb SC3 40 mm... ( https://smartcarb.com/product/40mm-smartcarb-carburetor/ )

I decided not to balance the crank, but will do so depending on how much this thing vibrates. Maybe even look into rubber mounts or weights for the bars. The rear tire is a 180, but maybe I will go smaller once I figure it out. On my TZ250, it runs a 165 rear, so maybe that's a better choice. I also had a decompression valve installed on the jug, twice actually, since the frame was in the way the first time. Lastly, we did some custom rear set brackets. On my TZ250, I can barely fit, so I wanted to have a little more leg room for the track.

And, I went ahead and got one of them fancy roller starters from Australia, because I am not pushing this thing anymore than I have too...lol

More updates to come as we near the finish line, so here we go, ENJOY!!!

This thing looks amazingly fun! Good Work!

Maybe at some point in my life I can build the 300 2T project I have wanted to do. Basically a big guys rs125. My TM en300 fi engine is amazing! It would make an incredible little GP bike motor.

I remember when this bike was for sale here. I had to convince myself to look away since I already have to many bikes.

I hope to be at a race you are at next year so I can see the bike.

No racing for me, just track days. It will be at NYST most of the year if you’re ever riding there…

I saw photos of that bike many years ago, which inspired me to build my own KX500 version. I ran it up and down an abandoned runway once and realized it would kill me. Inspiration, determination, but no engineering knowledge was not a great combination. I learned a lot though!

The shop working on the bike now actually built a KX500 as well, think it is sold now.

I found this post within a FB group, I messaged the original owner, but no response. I am not sure if he is around anymore....
