http://us.blackberry.com/where-to-b...top:Homepage:Jan2012:PlayBook199Offer#payLess best to get it from BB online as everyone of the retailers listed hasit at full price or out of stock Granted it is not the HP firesale but still a good deal it is also supposed to start running android apps
Rumors abound that this will be discontinued with no further support from rim...maybe that's why the price so cheap?...anyway might pick one b/c got a 35 dollar gf on top. Also isn't a 7inch close to a phone...prolly re-sell it and use the profit for a Transformer. Anyways in for one!
^^ And i've heard the rumor that in Feb they are releasing the new OS for it which will alleviate all the major issues they have with playbook. I picked one up for my g/f a few weeks ago when it first came out with the 199.99 and up prices here in Canada. They cant just stop supporting the product, not with how many of them they have been sold very recently.
What Rebel sed. I suspect they're blowing them out to get them into more people's hands, increase their market share/presence and fund some additional prod dev/partnering agreements. With Google coming out with the Droid based tablet within the next 6 months, the timing is right to strike with a device that is less proprietary/limited as the iPad and has more of an enterprise outlook. It still annoys the piss out of me that something as simple as printing ain't so simple with an iPad.
They have huge unsold inventories. This thing has been a commercial failure and the stock price has taken a beating.
What you buy today is "outdated" next week anyway the Iphone is on its 5th gen in 4 years Ipad 2 gens 1 year apart Android is on which OS system now 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3 etc Just sayin
I got an iPad 1 for Christmas. I don't see it as outdated. Just because there is something newer doesn't make it better.
I have one. Download the developer sw its available already. Will be the same as what is released later in March. It is capable of running android apps, sync to your e-mail facebook etc... This tablet also plays flash, you can go to any of your pron sites no problem ;-) Or the beebs. Screen is amazing audio is better than other tablets I've tested due to the front facing speakers on each side. You can have as many apps or webpages open as you want. Dual 1.2g processors and the qnx sw is a monster, it only slowed down when I was loading up the need for speed game that is huger, also very fun. I edit excel docs and view all my adobe documents on it. Get the cradle charger, makes charging it a snap. If you guys have any questions let me know, ill share what I can.
Printing? My biggest beef with the iPad is its absence of any legacy (read: normal) printing protocols.
The PlayBook is a decent product (tried out a friend's), but there's no room for it in the market at the original pricepoint. I wouldn't buy one now, they're just trying to move some of the inventory they overproduced. It'll be even cheaper soon. The iPad is an overpriced, overhyped piece of shit, for a variety of reasons. I make money off the people who want them, so thank God for Apple, but I don't like them personally at all. Then again, I would sell dried up dog shit if it would earn me an adequate ROI. I also enjoy laughing at all the retards who stand in line for these things and have to be the very first to have them so they can show off. If I'd had some spare cash when the iPhone first came out, I would have made a bundle. People were selling them successfully on eBay for $3000 the day they came out, it was hilarious.
No, they're blowing them out because of this: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/tec...e-485-million-loss-on-playbook-inventory.html RIM is dying a graceless death. They keep making "me too" products instead of innovating like they did with the original BB (remember when the click wheel and the trackball were awesome?). They've been overvalued for years because of wall st's obsession with the BB but now that android and iOS products are being more and more accepted in corporate america, they can no longer look the other way and the stock is tanking like it should have a while back when the signs were all starting to show.
I think RIM will survive in one form or another. Maybe not in its present form, but the name and the BlackBerry still have huge brand recognition and value. I could definitely see a takeover from another company or a complete board and management shakeup from activist shareholders. The BlackBerry is still an excellent product, but RIM needs to pull its head out of its ass and get some focus. RIM could become hugely successful once again. They're in the same position now as Apple c. 1996.
I heard something on the radio yesterday that RIM had a suitor and they backed out. I wasn't paying enough attention, but I thought it was Google?
The blackberry storm I had will keep me from buying ANYTHING made by blackberry again. Ever. I don't care if they say the thing will cook my breakfast, drive me to work and mow my lawn.
