Thought I would put it here before I list it on Iconic in case anyone is looking... I believe its a 1999 or 2000.... gotta find the paperwork to confirm. I've owned this for the past 16 years but haven't done much with it. I rode it at a track in Colorado for a couple 20 minute sessions at a trackday. Runs great, starts on the first kick. All stock except for the gas cap. Has about 2,400 miles. Super clean. Swingarm has a few scratches from someone sloppily putting it on the rear stand. Includes the Aprilia rear stand these originally came with. $12K. Can deliver to the west coast.
Damn that is gorgeous. Mine has been in a corner since it bucked me and sent me to the hospital. I need to ride it or sell it. Good luck with the sale and if I was in the market I would do it in a second. Buyer is getting a sweet ride for sure!
I don't wanna mess with a 2 stroke during a race weekend! If I was going to race a TZ250 again, I'd have a mechanic for the weekend to take the worries away. The Aprilias are more complex than a TZ. When they're running good they're great, but troubleshooting them takes more effort. Also, I'd like to race against other similar bikes, and there's just not many of these running around any longer.
I understand that and since I would be always ahead of you, we need more than two similar bikes on the grid.
Honestly, a Kramer 690 seems like the ideal solution... GP technology with a bulletproof motor. Not too much HP that eats tires. Get one Linders!
I think those are over budget for me. I haven’t been on a road race bike in over 30 years. I don’t need to spend 15 grand to try it again. EDIT: wow, I just googled and I was off they 16 to 25 grand. Heck that will pay for a fabulous Porsche Boxster experience. That’s Porsche Cayman, 996/911,or salvage Lotus Elise money
I saw an EVO2R for sale a couple days ago for around 15K. That's a good price. You're just parking money in these things and would get most of your money back when selling.
Ok, sugar. Park some money for me. You can justify it by remembering that free long term storage deal I gave you. Or you can remember that racing team you were going to start, when I was going to provide a toyhauler. After sitting on that toyhauler from 2013 - 2022 I finally sold it. Unfortunately, I cried in my chips waiting for my sponsored bike to show up. My wife said I was heard mumbling, Richard doesn’t love me anymore. She just figured that was why I bought a Boxster?
True, $1300 plus tip. But your 8 month trips throughout the world without having to work, shows you played the game a bit better than I did. In other words.....YOU'RE WINNING!!! MAMA set up the cruise while the kids were all here. I'm too much of a tight wad to do that, but I've learned if you want to stay married, you have to let your wife control things too. Everything we have is 1/2 and 1/2, so I just try and make enough money to cover all the bills and save a little, and she plans most excursions and does a great job at it. I would have never done the African Safari she planned 7 ish years ago. But she socked money away for awhile and then we just hit savings to cover the rest and it was the best vacation any of us have ever had. Next year we are going to Spa for the F1 race and then we are going to see my family in Germany. We chose SPA, mainly because of Eau Rouge, we decided to get the fancy seats in that corner. That was another upgrade that I wouldn't have done, because of my cheapness. However, it will make it more enjoyable for the girls. In reality I think it is $3K per person, (and that is cheaper versus Vegas F1 tickets) so I will suck it up and sell some more forklifts. LOLOLOL.
I raced 14 types of motorcycle over 20 years and nothing brought me as much joy as the Aprilia RS250 Cup. It has the traditional visceral two stroke feel and smell. the ease of a kickstart or single person push, and took virtually zero tuning. However, parts availability was brutal. Cranks and the cassette transmission internals were a nightmare to find. This one is a complete jewel. GLWS.
You have a busy life and along with that comes all the niggling costs. We are on the down low... no more big houses, limited 5 star resorts, no big bar tabs. Our overhead is nothing, so we can do what we want without too much thought. I don't think I could ever fork out $3K per ticket for an F1 race, but a $25K Antarctica cruise is on my radar. We're living a 4 star beach life in Vietnam currently for about $60 per day for both of us, all in. And that's eating out for dinner most nights.
That’s great you can live so well over there for so little. I want to visit that part of the world someday. Your Montana house looks big to me, but I haven’t seen it in person yet. Have fun on the cruise, I want to do one of those down the Danube and probably Alaska someday too.
Does anyone here have an opinion on 2T RS 125 parts? Hopefully they are easier to find that 250 parts. Thanks
