We have kids in the Talent Cup that are CMRA "regulars" at the top of the test timesheet who went faster on their 400s consistently even 2 years ago - so I would say no. But it for sure could be winds and being brand new bikes. I am just genuinely suprised that the 350s were not immediately faster.
Since we're excited about all the transparency... apparently they're is an updated shifter and quick shifters sensor made available to test that made the test but not to anyone else. So after we get the motor back together and drive 14 hours to go test and it breaks we are just sol.
I live in Fort Worth and the wind is definitely blowing harder than usual. Plus it’s not been kinda cold. I think in better conditions the times would be better.
I am sure every one of these eight TC riders will say at the end of their season these laps testing were not their best laps of the year on their APX-350's. No justification to push the limits of a brand-new expensive race bike with a very different engine that's already needed updates, with less than ideal weather and track conditions. The rider with the most experience at the track went the fastest on a very windy track yesterday. Yet he didn't score any points. It will be interesting to see who shows up at Hallett MRC this weekend and how things go there. I hope the class gets decent TV coverage at COTA. I'm more interested in this class than I am in the MotoGP races in Austin. I can buy one of these bikes from Jensen. https://www.motoamerica.com/black-leads-the-way-in-two-day-texas-talent-cup-test/
Interesting to see Yamaha publishing a press release endorsing their support for Sam and the Estenson Team's entry in the Talent Cup. I would not have expected this! https://www.motoamerica.com/yamaha-...icial-team-for-motoamerica-talent-cup-series/ I wonder if MV Agusta will follow suite announcing their support of Ella on the MP13 Racing Team T.C. APX-350? They did just recently end their partnership with Pierer Mobility AG.
We all left very happy. There wasn't much that I learned on the data/electronics side since I already have a lot of hands on time with the Mectronik stuff, but I learned a lot about the teams and everyone who will be participating this year. It was really fun. I made myself available to every team there to share what I know as a technical resource, and will continue to do so at COTA next week for every team in Talent Cup this year. If there are any teams who are unclear about how to install the RaceLink Club on their bike, feel free to reach out to me over DM/Email and I can send you the photos and explain the process. It's fairly straightforward and Kramer has made a plug and play harness to make it even easier that was given to teams at the test, it will also be provided to teams at COTA. Taylor was on the prototype development bike and rode a variety of compounds. On that note, Dunlop went above and beyond to bring a variety of tire compounds for teams/Taylor to test. Their efforts can't be understated, and the whole US Dunlop Team and the folks in Japan moved mountains to bring tires that Kramer and the development riders have been asking for. I can't speak to what comes next on that front, but it looks good.
Glad to hear things went well at Cresson. The talent cup teams are about to get real busy. My pesonal opinion, MA asked a bit too much from the teams and Kramer to make the opening round at COTA with Moto GP. I think the turnout at the Cresson test was a reflection of this.
It sure would be nice to have a shakedown race first for all the teams. The test day was a good approach, but a separate race would have been better. The reality is that if there can be a pack of 5-10 bikes at or near the front, it will still show well. So long as some Jr Alien doesn’t check out on everyone.
It was blustery out there for sure (is that a word) and if they were on the CW 1.7 mi I would imagine that coming down the back straight into that high speed left hander with those winds would have been a "pucker up butter cup" moment keeping the bike on the inside curb flat out.
I thought that was Piglet. He blew away on a balloon. Eeyore's house fell down, but it didn't change his mood.
Julian Correa Partners With American Honda For 2025 MotoAmerica Talent Cup Championship - MotoAmerica
A Honda sponsored rider, Yamaha sponsored rider and Team Roberts entry. Class is shaping up to be something special.
Correction: Honda is supporting two riders, Yamaha is supporting one rider, and Ducati is supporting one rider. The Talent Cup was going to have another factory/MotoGP team involved as well, but I believe they are going to see how this season goes, and decide if they want to participate next year.
