from a team member of his… his bike was set up too soft and running wide off corners. He sat on the bike for the first time the day before the race. It was a hectic two weeks prior to race day with little to no track time for a lot of the riders. It was a trial by fire event. Good news is no bikes blew up on a track with lots of WOT.
Be patient. Remember everyone in here said MotoAmerica, the twins class, the Superbike class would never make it? Spies himself said the Superbike class was an immanent failure years ago, now it’s his livelihood.
I just think kids who excel in this new class are more likely to be considered for a jump to Moto3 or even Moto2, where as Next Gen Supersport on a detuned 800-900cc production bike is probably less likely to translate to GP bikes. World Supersport and then Superbike step ups, yes, Moto3 and Moto2? Not as likely.
His race 2 total time was 2 seconds faster than his race 1 total time, and his race 2 fastest lap was .3 faster than his race 1 fastest lap. Bodie definitely upped the pace in race 2 and the Warhorse bike seemed to suffer at the increased pace. Barber will be interesting. It's going to be warm (high 80s Fri and Sat, possible rain on Sunday) and AD has back to back races on Saturday and Sunday.
Still not home yet lol. Have some weird cutting out issues in both races, hoping to sort on the dyno at the shop this week, and the transmission in the truck is not happy so got to drop the trailer here and grab the other truck back at home and rehook for Barber. I told the boy "why not me" before race 1, and he showed he can run podium pace. Unfortunate mechanical in race 2, excited for Barber. Been a hell of a journey so far.
I was hoping Chase from Texas MiniGP would be up front...he did well at Cresson but that was a limited field. I believe he is 18 and he did say his weight would be a factor in that MotoA live+ interview. Starving himself to get down to fighting weight. I don't know that at 18 I could even do that. I ate like a horse.
I read somewhere that the top 5 in this class are guaranteed a slot at the Redbull Rookies Tryout? Also, is it Trackhouse Racing that's involved in the Warhorse effort? This is turning into a real BBS Shootout, Robby-Bobby vs RegularGuy vs Voss555!
Thanks for correcting my impression. The laptimes the announcers were giving during race 2 made it seem to me like AD was slower. But yeah, I see he was 2 seconds faster in race 2. Very impressive improvement by Paige and his team!
@Robby-Bobby working his usual crew-chief magic between races. Was difficult to tell who was more excited by the win, given Bodie got more camera time than Rob did.
First of all, I think the class is a great addition. Secondly, I am crious about how Moto3 and Talent cup bikes compare. Researching the class differences. Moto3 bikes: 250cc singles with ~60HP coming in at 85kg. Bike + rider = 148kg minumum Talent Cup bikes: 350cc singles with ~55HP weighing 111kg. Bike + rider = 186kg minumum Materials and cost in Moto3 as of 2024 were 85,000 Euro for a rollin chassis? Wow. Makes the Kramer look like even more of a bargain. It appears power is relatively close, with weight being one of the main differences. Looking at the +/- 15 seconds difference in lap times betweeen Moto3 and Talent cup at COTA, I think this can be attributed largely to weigth and also to the fact the Talent Cup riders had zero time to develop bikes. My guess is this performance gap will close pretty quickly. Congrats to all the teams that made their debut this weekend. Looking forward to seeing the next round at Barber.
