Title: 2024 Suzuki GSX-8R Track Build but Road Capable - San Antonio, TX - $17k

Hello, I'm selling my 2024 Suzuki GSX-8R that I bought at the dealer, broke in the engine (i.e., 1k miles), then immediately converted it to a track bike, but only used it for 3 track days. I have deployments coming up and I injured myself training on some pit bikes, tore some ligaments, and realized I wasn't enjoying the sport anymore and feel guilty giving up this project I recently started. All items are to be sold as one (i.e., no part out) except for the "Optional additionals". Please let me know if there are any questions. See bike images/videos attached to this post or find them here-https://imgur.com/a/mT4DHLK. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to working with you!

I'm glad you brought this up. I'm very green to the scene (if that hasn't already been obvious). I appreciate the responses so far as I'm all for constructive critism. I've spoken to a few people so far as my posts have been consistently dragged everywhere I've posted it lol (I posted it to mulitple channels for visibility). For clarity, I provided all of the parts and the bike price for transparency so everyone understood where I got the price from. I didn't know what would be fair and appropriate considering I built it for the track. I looked around prior to posting, but didn't find any 2024 or 2023 models so I just threw it out there and wanted to be flexible for responses. I've seen other bikes that were built more intensly (e.g., motor work), at similar price points, so I foolishly didn't think mine was outrageous, but I was naive. Since the bike is slow with a stock motor and suspension (no ktech, ohlins, etc. specific options), people aren't interested. Totally fair, and I had no clue because I bought it because it was slow, but it had rider aids (e.g., up & down quick shifter, TC, etc.). As I said, I'm all for constructive critism and will continue to leave these posts up so I can continue receiving valuable feedback. These communities have helped me get to where I am today and I want to find the bike a new home that'll better suit it. Everyone is so much more knowledgeable than me at selling stuff so please guide this young one with your experience! Thanks for your comments and I look forward to hearing from you all!

lepervon, the thing I see a lot and what I don't think newish people realize, the bike and the parts are not returning full retail price when you are trying to build a race bike. All race/track bikes will be a loss. When starting to build a bike, you should automatically look at losing 25% minimum of the costs.

The bike is worth $9500 brand new. You're asking almost double that price without suspension, I would consider lowering the price some, you won't get things back at retail price once you have installed or used them. Ex, tires have to be on the bike, that isn't a cost the new owner would pay for.

Just look at what you have, consider a used part market for some of the parts and bike, and readjust. You are the only person who knows what you can and cannot sell it for, but pricing that is too high will scare off most/if not all potential buyers.

GLWS and I hope this bike finds a happy home.

Unless you are a well-known race shop, you generally won't be able to sell something for anywhere close to what you paid. Near anyone can bolt parts on a bike - that doesn't mean it's fast, the parts are the "right" ones, or that all the labor was done well. And everyone will form their opinion about that based on your part choices. I suspect you'll have to lower the price A LOT to sell it as-is.

Putting the street fairings back on and selling the more expensive parts separately (exhaust, thumb brake, engine covers) will probably get you the most $$ back.

Forgot to include the fuel used for the break in miles, first oil change and the cost of the 3 track days extended to buyer. Price adjustment****

If this is true, why did you list here for the exact same price that got you drug on FB?

I posted them one after the other so I didn't get a chance to read the feedback. I just put it out there on different platforms within minutes. Hopefuly that makes sense. I didn't do this out of malicious intent, spam, or because I'm trying to screw anyone over, I was just simply ignorant and thanks to the support of some of the people that commented across the platforms, I now have a better idea of how to properly give back to the community in a fair manner. Thanks!

    Sale Price(was): $17,000
    Sale Price(now): $12,500

Thanks to all the feedback, i've hopefully dropped the price to something more reasonable. Although this doesn't exactly match some of the offers I received, hopefully we're headed in the right direction as I want to give back to the community in a fair manner. I'm new to this, but I don't want anyone to walk away with regrets. Please keep the guidance and comments going and we'll see what the market ultimately decides! I'm in no particular rush. Thank you!

Also the Lien isn’t helping you - Many will stay away just for that because it makes the transaction cumbersome.

Agreed 100%, but the loan was neglible so it didn't make since to pay it in full, especially when I never planned on selling it. Alas, another great comment against the bike. But that's okay. Even if it stays for sale for a year, it'll be paid off and maybe even more desired since there aren't too many available and motoamerica is really giving it a good reason to buy it. I'm hoping this is the case at least lol. Thanks for your input. Really love the honesty to keep me grounded and my expectations realistic

Fwiw, i think your new price is reasonable. I was thinking if I were selling I’d ask 75-8500 for the bike + 50% of aftermarket parts cost, so $4k. Total $11.5-12.5k.

Thanks, I received similar feedback considering how little everything is used, but it's still on the high-end. However, I'm betting on the availability since there aren't many out there and that I still have the stock parts so if someone wants to go through the effort of parting out parts, they could. I understand it doesn't appeal to everyone because it isn't fast, but it I bought it because of the rider aids (TC, up & down blipper, etc.) and its controllable power for my skill. I also wanted something larger in size because the smaller bikes like the ninja 250, 300, 400, etc. were just too small and uncomfortable for my height, unless I started diving into more custom parts, but even that isn't guanrateed. I hope it fits someone's needs as it fit mine. If anyone is open to negotiating, I'm flexible. Thanks again as I appreciate the input! You guys are more than I deserve lol

12.5k is a good price for this!

Honestly, you’ve handled a lot of feedback from these guys gracefully.

Some of these guys just need something to bitch about / troll on.

To put in perspective my Aprilia Rs660 was 11.5k OTD, parts were another 11k not including labor.

i sold after 2 years of use for 14.5k

    GLWS!

Everything you do in this sport just pretty much hemorrhages money, worse if you crash it. ‍♂️ sad but true.

so just remember we earn it to spend it, and with any passion hobby, there’s virtually never any return on investment. At least it’s fun as hell!

some bikes are worth more in pieces than whole. As far as trinkets... $.50 on the US dollar is a good starting point unless NIB then maybe $.75.
Also never build a bike at retail pricing... unless you're FU money rich.

Wow thanks so much for your kind words! Although people were critical, I can sort of understand where they came from. Maybe some people even felt disrespected. Ultimately, I'm unsure, but I'm just relieved that some people were willing to guide me.

Exactly! I fell in love with the sport thanks to race series like motogp, wsbk, motoamerica, and bsb. Everything top riders were able to do was so jaw dorpping that I wanted to experience 1% of that. Alas, I'm only human, and my expectations were unrealistic and robbed me of fun. No matter how much I trained, I was scared to take the next step. Although I don't have FU money, it's my only expense and with no kids. Ultimately, without it being fun, it was time to pack it up and move on. I know lots of people love the sport and hopefully someone else can show the bike the love and passion I was never able to give it. Thanks for your insights as it brings things into perspective

It sounds like you went about the entire track riding thing completely wrong. Buy a 600 in cash and see how much fun you have. An expensive new generation bike you owe money on that is objectively worse than an old 600 is never going to be fun.
