With the announcement of the the new Honda what does everyone think about it?! Could this be the budget race friendly Lightweight replacement for the SV650 that could still be competitive?! Thoughts?! Lets discuss...

I think it would make a better ADV platform. Puts some CR forks and a CR swingarm on it, tuck the pipe higher and give it some Dakar bodywork.

AND...this thread is worthless without pics! :D

This bike has really piqued my curiosity, now that's it's being released here.
I currently have several bikes including my beloved sv track only.
Would really like to go to just one bike and do it all with it though.
Thought of the new Factory Tuono, but according to what I saw from AF1 Racing it's a big no for me.
The Tuono 660 for 25/26 is supposed to be almost 14k$ (plus all the overpriced fees) at release.
Thars almost two of the Honda.
Only thing really worries me on it, it's a pig weight wise. It's equal to my MT-09.
I ve been trying find out info on wheel and swingarm swaps but finding nothing so far.

There is no replacement for the SV650 just ask @voss555

The Hornet fits into no-mans land between lw twins and hw twins with the GSX8R and the KTM790. Kinda porky and the frame doesnt look too racey. Also, being one of the first to develop it will bring a lot of challenges.

Thanks that's sorta what I'm coming to the conclusion of.
I love my Lil suzook. It seems however I stack it there is not another bike with so much potential and so many grins for so little cost.
It does have some limits though and is track only.
Ive got four bikes and been trying to come up with an idea of just one to do it all( sport touring, commuting, track days) as I'm tired of shelling out a fortune in insurance each month..
Just haven't found anything yet without spending too much money.
Maybe seeing the Honda in person I can brainstorm and come up with some ideas on getting that weight down.

I think the answer is to keep your track sv and get rid of your other 3 bikes. Then get another street SV. That way you will only have 2 bikes and built in spares.

The new Touno 660 factory is bad ass. MSRP 11499 plus the fees but has Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, 90 hp at the rear wheel.

    Thanks!
I just got on. Af1, they have a 25 listed in there with the ohlins for that!
That contradicts what they posted a couple days ago on the forum, listing it over 14 with the ttx package.
I wonder if the 25 has the launch control 52tb and updated electronics or that starts with the 26 models?

EDIT: NM, just found this post on the subject
got some pics up -- IGNORE IT SAYS 2025, the stupid dealer website provider was not ready for 2026 models yet. Should be fixed in 1-2 days, they say. They are really 2026 models. Seems every dealer's website is struggling with this right now

If you're eying up a 660 for the street, keep in mind that they discontinued cruise control for the new models. It's not a particularly good cruise control on the Ape, but I'm super happy to have it and not upset at all that I got a 24 model just before they launched the 25's.

I'm seeing places list it dosent have it, but on the factory website it shows it as a feature.
I priced one out the door yesterday of 13196 plus tax in my state when registered.
The dealers are absolutely all over the place with that "freight" and "doc" fee.
Two dealers within 60 miles of each other 460$ diff on freight.
Lot list it with the ems discount as well, which I'm not.
The new 660 tuono checks all the boxes but that new r9 is cheaper.
    I know first world problems

When I checked out the Aprilia demo rides at Barber, they had a few of the 25's there for demos. I asked one of their reps about the differences and he told me that with the larger throttle bodies, they discontinued cruise control. I haven't read or researched anything on the subject, just taken the guy at his word.

That R9 is also a pretty solid choice, but I like my 660 better as a street/trackday bike just because of that tank and ergos. I also don't want any more power on the street than that because I've generally not enjoyed being in handcuffs.

That engine is a trouble maker for sure!
I have a 21mt09, and it pulls just as hard through mid range as my big tuono and my old superhawk does.
Absolutely nuts like riding a cr500mx bike with those goofy tall handlebars.
It's kinda a downside as it will absolutely annihilate a rear tire at lil tally in one day if I ride every session.
Even on street it's that way. Just can't help it that engine begs to be played.
That and the well over 400lb weight is part of reason I've been leaning more twds the baby tuono.

Speaking of Hornets... anyone excited about the CB1000 SP coming to the US? Seems like it could be a really fun, naked, quasi Hooligan track bike? Anyone seen one up close and / or ridden one? Especially curious how it compares to the Triumph765 RS.

Going by Micheal Neevsey at MCN it is an impressive bike for the money. I've not heard too many negatives on it.
And I'm pretty sure it is comeplety strangled to meet emissions and done so as cheaply as possible so there will be a good bit of tuning potential for those inclined for more tire shreddimg

Oh wow thanks! I've been wondering if he would be getting one and tuning it after watching his r9 vids.
I know the the suspension has potential for improvement easily and cheaply. . Really lookin fwd to seeing what the engine does as that price is really a strong selling point on it.

I'm not really needing more power than the stock engine offers. I'm just looking for a fun hooligan track (not race) build which will is stripping the street equipment and adding a number plate.

Any reason to buy a street triple 765 RS over one of these Hornet SPs? If one is looking for a push the button and ride track day bike?

New reviews on the CB1000 Hornet SP and CB750 Hornet.

The CB1000 is really sounding like a great all around package albeit with a cannon sized eye sore of a muffler.
