That's about 5 miles from me. Not totally surprised to hear a shooting was involved

Sounds like they were behind a car, and the suspect shot underneath the car? Thats all I got! Why else would those be targeted?

I would imagine an attempted murder charge might be hard to prove in court, when victims are shot in the ankles.

I never would have thought inflicting something "painful as hell" would constitute an attempt to kill someone, either.

Right. It's painful as hell and not attempted murder. As a response to why would you shoot someone in the ankles. Maybe so you don't get charged with attempted murder?

 

I’m no lawyer, but if you fire a gun at someone, even the dumbest criminals know it definitely has the potential to kill- thus the intent to kill is there.

Yep. If you pull the trigger you don't even have to hit them to get attempted murder. Any hit, even if in the ankle, is definitely attempted murder worthy...right?
