OEM color is a dark gray/charcoal sort of color, going to match that. I took some time away from storm news and was able to get wiring for regulator/rectifier completed, main fuse in, coils/wires/plugs in, and the front fender mounted.
Spent some time in the garage this weekend; new stator in, fuel pump/filter/hoses in, oil pressure sensor, temp sensor, coolant hoses, overflow tank, exhaust on, radiator on, water pump, ignition, front sensors, new start/stop/run switch, throttle housing and cables, choke cables, carbs, chain and sprocket, all wiring buttoned up, everything torqued down. Fixed the leaky fuel petcock and mounted the tank from the donor bike, installed the seat, and the bike is alive!
Converted cable-driven speedo to sprocket-driven sensor as I had a '96 wiring harness and gauges, nice to have that sorted out. Test fit the front fairing to make sure the aftermarket support brace was the right size, decided to install the other plastics to verify everything lines up and bolts on in the correct spot before getting ready for paint.
Cleaned the '94 carbs and have them just about dialed in, will wrap that up once I get the new-to-me OEM exhaust installed. Sorted out all of the brackets and have everything installed, now just need to get new graphics made and then can get the bike painted...
Picked up another 900RR project recently that needs some TLC, decided to "borrow" a few parts from it while waiting for paint/decals for the white/red/black scheme of the '94.
I have the same affliction with early model R1... Have a 01 street R1 that I bought brand new. Have a 01 track toy R1. And now just picked up a "parts bike" 01 R1 that is too nice to part out!!!
Mine was with a 93 gsxr750…finally cured myself but am still finding bits and pieces here and there that were squirreled away through the years
Turns out the 93 parts/donor/project bike isn't nearly as bad as previous owner stated. Cleaned up some wiring, new plugs, clean set of carbs, fuel filter, starter, charged the battery and it fired right up. Side stand and shock linkage ordered so it goes back to stock height. On the 94, installed the new-to-me rear fairings, new windshield (Thanks @SpeedWerks Racing) and have it all buttoned up. Carbs are dialed in and the bike runs/rides as good as new, if not better.
