Looking for a performance minded mechanic to rebuild the top end of my first gen SV 650 racebike with Keihin flatslides, check compression, possible rings, etc. Located in Asheville NC and will bring the bike to you within reason. See you at Road Atlanta! Robb #072

Additionally, the bike runs and is faster than I am...

Hey Casey. I talked to Freddy today. SBU isn't taking any service till February (or so). Maybe they're working on a Matt Scholtz secret weapon!
    Is Masecar still out there?

He's definitely still out there helping people and being awesome but not riding as much.
I'd definitely take the bike to cop if he has time

Mike Copoulos is the man you are seeking. He's very close to you and had a proven track record building SV motors.

But...carburetors. Cop ain't keen on carbs (at least that's what he says). :D

TWF2 is your man, but out west.

JD Hord at Hordpower isn’t too too far away. One of the best in the country.

If you can’t find anyone locally, buy everything you need to refresh the top end and do it yourself. It’s not rocket surgery. Tune the carbs yourself also. Plenty of how to’s out there.

Have a reputable shop (any of the suggested guys) do a leak down test. The Leak down will show if it is acceptable condition.
If it is OK, ride it.
Track seat time will drop lap times faster than a new motor.

    TWF2 2 heads are better than 1

Leave it alone and keep riding. There is no maintenance on sv, you ride it until it blows up :)
