Man, that was awful. Looks like pilot error on the smaller plane and, so, the B-17 had no chance of escaping its fate. The spectators in the foreground were fortunate the crash did not happen just milliseconds earlier.

Many surviving examples are painted to represent actual planes that flew in combat. Today, 45 planes survive in complete form, 9 of which are airworthy, and 38 of which reside in the United States. Unfortunately I think that changed today….
In the shot I saw, he was banked over pretty hard and likely couldn't see the B17 until it was too late.
Multiple angles. From the first video it looked like the pilot wasn’t looking where he was flying. From other views he was pulling up into the bank and the nose covered the b17 the entire time. Man that sucks….
