But why take that chance. If 1 .50 BMG is good then 500 rounds a min is 500x as good.

I understand not wanting the weight during a race, but on a training run the weight of a rifle makes no difference. While an AR-10 might be sufficient, the 308 is at the bottom of what I consider a moose cartridge, especially when precise shot placement is difficult, like when it is attacking or stomping your dogs. 338 and up is a better choice.

 

From what a buddy that lives up in Maine and who had a run in or three with moose (mooses? Meece? ) a .308/ 7.62 just piss off the moose.

 

45-70 for the win.
