I saw a generator ad with what looked like a cover over it.The ad didn't mention what purpose it served.
I'm looking to buy one for next season and was wondering if sound deadening covers exist?
Also, could you box one in to deaden the sound,of course minus an exhaust outlet?
I know it sux pitting next to a loud one!

Yea. Lots of people have made a quick plywood box o set around their loud ass generator. Maybe add some foam or egg crate stuff to dampen the sound even more

Was it an add for Generac? If so , that is a residential back up generator for power outage. And that cover on them is to protect it from the elements, because it sits outside ... those are not meant to be portable.

There are plenty of reasonably priced 2000 watt generators out there that are not loud. Search on Amazon.

I got one that is probably a Honda or Yamaha under the plastic for $400 from there. It’s on its third season next year.

as already said. The covers are for generators kept outside.

Yeah...because it would cost twice as much, run half the time, and you could get a super cool T-Shirt to match your POS generator.

I think the biggest problem would be loss of oil, and weight..

At least the generator has a "low oil level" warning.
