I had no issues with the size of the real big pilot, just the price. I'm still trying to figure out if I like the smaller BP. The price is more attractive but. . . it's lacking something.
Picked up something for myself a little different than what I normally wear, and tossed a NATO on it ... I like it! Wears big though....
Wait, you tell me that you don’t like that Rolex now offers the Batman on an oyster bracelet again? https://www.rolex.com/watches/configure.html#/gmt-master-ii/m126710blnr-0003/discover
I'm not sure what would give @RichB some excitement to the Rolex line, but for me, how does changing the bracelet from jubilee to oyster make that new, exciting or innovative? Putting something back that they took away 4 or 5 (?) years ago is none of the above. Adding a new mechanism to the movement; or having the GMT hand as a sub-dial, not 4th hand; or moving the seconds to a subdial & leaving the hour, minute and gmt as central hands would be interesting. That would cause a stir. Rolex, other than bomb-proof reliability of their movements, is not known for innovation. Would I buy a GMT-Master II? Yes, it's one of the grail watches I would like to own (prefer coke or all-black to pepsi for the bezel), but it's not innovative.
Holy heck, I've been checking out disassembly videos of Rolex watches. I'd no clue they're so intricate. Is complete disassembly part of the service/cleaning process?
Yes, usually they'll remove all parts and put them in an ultrasonic bath. Then replace, then oil/re-assemble.
Those videos do no justice to how small the parts really are. Especially the jewels and jewel settings.
