The Kansas City plant closing will cost Harley as much as $200 million through 2019, then result in annual cash savings of $65 million to $75 million after 2020. Levatich declined to say how much production capacity will be reduced. At the same time, the company is building a factory in Thailand that will assemble bikes using components shipped from the U.S.

Alright Making Thailand Great Again. ;)

Why not? If Kmart could buy Sears in the midst of shutting down their own stores left and right...
Goofy shit like this happens all the time with big corporations- going thru it right now where I work. We "bought" them, yet the "combined company" has a list of directors that's heavily based of "them".

Some incorrect info in this thread. The last vrod rolled off the line in KC in October 2016. The “Softail” is made in KC. It is not a new Softail and dyna wasn’t killed, it was intended to be a completely new cruiser platform. Wasn’t supposed to be called Softail, but someone said it would cost a couple million for rebranding in dealers so they reused the name. Real Softails had been made in both KC and york since around 2013. Something needs to change when you are supporting 600k bikes a year capacity but selling only 240k.
