Didn't take long for Harley to settle. http://www.streetinsider.com/dr/news.php?id=11954009 I wonder if the EPA has any other aftermarket fuel management tuners in their cross hairs. After market exhaust too.
I wonder if the AMA race program budget in the 90s was done to help legitimize selling the screaming Eagle kits? . I'm sure they make way more $$ on them vs. bike sales.
I liked the "off road" part of the defense. A big twin off road? Only while it's waiting for the tow truck Competition? When was the last time you saw a Harley in racing, save an XR in a vintage event? OK, they're testing out that new flat track machine
My favourite part is when they had fuel injection and 300 more cc's. The announcers would go on and on about how the harleys and buells were just too much for the Suzukis to outrun. Well yes, dipshits , with 300 more cc's in a drag race they are.
The V twins are 2,622cc's - yes, 2.6 Liters - fuel injected, and the entire engine is carved out of billet, much like a Nitro Hemi. The Zook's are 1500cc's and OE production cases with carbs.... That sounds fair.
They have to give them their own class because they suck too bad to race against anything else, just like the XR series.
have so many HD fans that to pass up the marketing/ merchandising would be a foolish business decision. Money talk$
Back on topic.. this does not bode well for the aftermarket biz. A nice article on the topic. http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/news/harley-davidson-super-tuner-epa-doj-fine/ They connect the dots http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/news/epa-withdraws-racing-emissions-proposal/
