After 22 years, July 31st will be my last day of active duty in the USN. It's been a long and memorable journey. So how am I going to spend my first two days as a civilian, Racing at VIR with my WERA peeps and an epic SV race See you all there, it's on
Congrats and thank you for your service. Will you officially be retired for the VIR weekend, or still on terminal?
WERA should play Anchors Away in the paddock over the PA in your honor. The playing of the Star Bangled Banner has special meaning for me before the race day begins. Navy, best days of my life next to racing with my son. The paddock with Moto America almost matches the excitement of the flight deck these days. Fair winds and following seas. Thanks for your service. Salute.
Congrats! I reitred last year with 22 years in the USAF. Sure is nice on this side! Now if I can just get the VA to give me my percentage. Good luck at VIR!
Welcome to the other side! 22 seems to be a popular number. Retired in 2009 with 22 years. It will be weird at first, but for me I was ready. I get asked all the time if I miss it, and can honestly say that I miss what the Navy used to be, not what it is today. I miss aspects of it, but I am glad that I do not have to put up with the Navy of today. I honestly think it is much more difficult today to have a career in the Navy, than it has ever been. I still get the urge to move every couple of years, it's weird. Make sure you get two copies of your med record!!
