Who can dye leathers and who has experience getting their leathers dyed? Need red died into a blue....is that possible?
subscribed, looking to get white dyed to flo yellow/green. BB told me to find an airbrush specialist. Ski
most of those import suit leather is not going to take a dye . usually this leather is already painted anyway. we've had pretty good results painting panels and roadrash repairs . if you have a large or intricate area to color an airbrush is the way to go . especially if you want the florescents to "pop" out at you. that's what i got on it. the best to all bill and darethea barnacle bill's 1106 logan road springfieldl ky 40069
Go to your local hobby store or Jo-anns...etc and buy Acrylic paint and a few brushes. This is how Taichi repairs crash damage. On the couch and an hour of TV later, my leathers looked good as new. It will take longer to match the paint color than do the repair. You will need to thin the paint quite a bit with water.
does the paint last? I am looking to do some pretty large areas on my leathers. Some of it will be painting a light-ish blue over top of the current red panels this is not for a repair also, does the paint hold up/last pretty well?
cover well it probably will hold as well as some of these suits with the painted graphics and lettering from pakistan and china. but that ain't saying much. it's going to be hard to cover that red with a light blue. they may have to paint it white first and then shoot the blue on that. it'll hold until you hit the asphalt pretty well but no one is going to guarantee it for any type of solvent is going to lift it .go to a T'shirt painter and have it airbrushed. that's what I know. bill and darethea barnacle bill's 1106 logan road springfield, ky 40069
Supposedly, Jacquard air brush colors work well on leathers: http://www.dickblick.com/products/jacquard-airbrush-paints/
I painted quite a bit of my suit from a 100+mph slide. This was 2 years ago and it still looks new. I used a magic eraser to clean up some of the black marks and then painted with original colors and graphic. Since there was no integrity issue, it was the same repair Taichi was going to do in Japan for $500. https://www.dropbox.com/s/uwaekw8auydzf2t/IMAG0414.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/y0zpk2fvwi3dri1/IMAG0421.jpg
+1, That does look great. I'm going to have to try that on my old suit. So you did that with a brush, and Acrylic paint, not even an air brush system.
actually painted mine this weekend after Saturday's races. I'll need to do another coat at home, but it came out surprisingly well. I did get lots of laughs with garage mates watching me paint a suit.
