http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2012/07/andy-griffith-dies-at-age-86/1 I used to watch this guy every day with my grandparents...
Damn, what a great actor. He was great in No Time For Seargents. Any military guy can appreciate that movie. He was young in that movie too.
I feel like I've lost a friend. I have a bank of old Andy episodes on the DVR at all times. My wife and I watch one about every evening.
R.I.P. Mr Griffith. The Andy Griffith show was the best! I wish today's TV was this good. I can vividly remember, many years ago following surgery on my foot, watching the episode where Barney was riding that army surplus motorcycle with the sidecar. He was ticketing everyone in town like a maniac. My foot throbbed with pain so much when I laughed, so I eventually had to turn that show off. The pain meds just weren't cutting it! That memory floods back every time I see that timeless episode, and there are so many of them. Best TV show ever IMHO.
My favorite episode is the one where Andy tries to get Barney to recite the preamble to the Constitution. It's a sad day.
The saluting toilet seats has to be one of the funniest scenes I have ever seen. RIP Andy; you touched more lives than you'll ever know.
Great guy all the way around. You've got to see Face In The Crowd, 1957. If you thought Griffith was just a TV actor, this movie will change your mind. Got to see it. The last word on fame and egos...
I'd been listening to his stand-up routines for a few years before I ever saw him on The Andy Griffith Show. Thanks for all the memories and lessons. PS: You did a fine job with Opie!
