Well, thanks for the feedback! Let's deal with the 'peace' issue: no, I didn't think religions have necessarily created peace, that it was (is) of course, a goal to be achieved someday...but, at the same time, what happened to the 'turn the other cheek' proposition? How does self-defense (and possible use of violence) square with that doctrine?

as you know, i speak only for my specific Christian beliefs when i am not quoting the bible. that being said, it is not the point of Christianity to establish peace on earth in this age. Peace will only be restored upon Christ's return. we may all WISH for peace, but it ain't gonna happen until then....

"turn the other cheek" was dealing with revenge for insult. it was not speaking to personal defense. should you threaten anyone around me with physical harm, i have no restrictions on smiting you.

Well, then why do i see slogans like 'Peace on Earth, Goodwill toward Men' at Christmas? This is shocking to find out that we get no relief until....(please provide more details, how does this comeback get played out and where?)
